knocking on front end on classic

hi all recently bought a classic ,it has a few issues im wanting to sort out and am looking for some help and pointers :thumb:

it has a knocking coming from the front on bumpy uneven roads ,and also gives a vague feel to the steering to ,which i think are obviously related issues !!

i want to know what most common parts that cause this ????

am i right in thinking some new droplinks, new top mounts ,balljoints and track rod ends would be a good place to start ???

and weres the best place to buy the parts from then ??

any info help would be great as have had a search and am thinking maybe best to get the items mentioned above done first ??

hi mate get under the car and grab everymetal bit with any kind of connection to it and push and pull it hard as u like and watch for movement at the joint...will soon show itself with excessive play

Is it standard suspension? ARB links would be a good place to start, cheap and easy to do, very easy.

Thanks
sam

You could try http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/part...en=&searchKey= for genuine parts or a parts store like Allparts for non genuine, or a Subaru dealer.

Thanks

The drop links can cause this as well as the ball joints and steering rack bushes and track rod ends as you mentioned. All easy to diagnose. The other thing to check is the pinch bolt that holds the ball joint into the alloy arms, assuming you have alloy arms, if this is slightly loose it allows the ball joint to move in its seat causing an annoying knocking, had this myself.
