Bugeye Morette Wiring Diagram

Thought i would stick this up as I know one is hard to find and its nice to be nice :lol1: all the information is thanks to Bugeyejohn :thumb:

On the morette plug as you look at it...
Connect two wires to the left terminal(+) send 1 to the high beam live and 1 to the dipped beam live, then on the right terminal (this is a switched earth) send to the high beam earth, thats the high beam working, then send a wire from the dipped beam earth to the earth on the inner wing(constant earth) thats the dipped beam working :luxhello: then connect the other plugs for side lights/ indicators and thats it, simples :thumb:

That's brilliant and just what I needed!! My wagon has morettes and whoever wired them in ****ed it right up!! One of the side lights dont work but comes on when dipped beam is put on and one side of the headlamp adjusters dont work either so m going to take them out and start again, this diagram is spot on!!!

bugeyejohn 04 March 2011 08:19 AM

If you want you can also fit a 4 pin relay between the oe socket and the bulbs for power feed on each side if you prefer.I didnt on mine and havent read of it been done by other people wiring this way,but if you prefer to use a extra relay thats where you can fit it :thumb:

Im gonna bump this some1 may need it and its not in the search function???

MalcB 20 December 2011 03:09 PM

Another bump. Very useful info.:thumb:

Had Morette's on mine since I bought it. 5 Pin Relays have been fitted on both sides? Generally they work OK but in the past have acted really weird. One HB and then one LB?. Had a lot of corroded spade connectors. Now replaced and working OK or they were. Last night lost High Beam. Dodgy relay or earth I think..

alcazar 20 December 2011 03:13 PM

A tip about relays:

If you can, fit a PROPER relay box with the female connectors captive in it so that the relays sit vertical and can be plugged in and uplugged like the ones on your car.

If you CAN'T do this, then seal the bases of relays to their lids with something like Araldite to stop water ingress, then solder ALL female spade connectors to their wires, and ALWAYS use a soft plastic cover over the spade.
Finally, if the relay and it's connectors are in a particularly wet situation, smear grease over the connectors once connection has been made.

All this learned from rallying years ago.

Great advice. :thumb:

morette lights

its like my high beam is stuck on and wrong lights working any ideas?

Wayno Complaino 06 October 2013 09:54 PM

Just picked up a bugeye with these lights and the high beam doesn't work. Having a quick skim nothing makes sense to me yet but I'm sure the answer is between here and having a good look in the daylight. New to DIY car electrics so gonna have to learn as I go.
