Simple inquiry
 

Connecting to ( starting typing ) the internet can take a full 5 minutes from zero in the morning / left for 30 minutes ( not hibernating )

But once running theres no problem at all

Is this likely to be connection into the house , router or computer itself


its f%*king irritating :wonder:






p.s. i see the 2 little screens indicating theres a connection only flash' when its working properly

Check the router settings to see if it is set to connect all the time (most are, but some old models do not).

Do you leave the router switched on all the time?

hmmm ..... Its turned off with the computer , havnt got a home hub or anything that sophisticated :)

Dont know about the settings for the router itself , ill have a look

Oh .. that'll be why then.

The router then has to 'negotiate' with the exchange every time it is switched on / computer wakes up. It should take 1 or 2 minutes, not 5. Perhaps you are just frustrated and think it takes 5?

Get an external router, they are £10 ...
