lamba sensor
 

help needed guys,
i've got a 2002 bugeye,the engine management light came on , so took it to the garage. he said its running rich....... could be the lamba sensor which is gonna be a few hundred quid..

where is it located?.
how many does it have?.
how many wires does it have?
and finally , where can i get one cheap?.

any help would be great, as i dont wanna get ripped off at a garage if it can be sorted cheaper than they say

Hi matey new from dealer cost around £320 and from eBay same one cost around £97,you will find cheaper one for lot less around £97
For classic is cheaper,but on classic is 3 wire Bosch and on New Age must be only Denso 4 wire,and you cannot put O2 sensor from classic on New age.

Bollocks. Sounds like a rip off.
On the 2002 Bugeye and all New Age the Lambda or Oxygen sensor is located in the collector of the headers/exhaust manifold close to the driver's side front wheel.
Do not buy a cheapo Oxygen sensor. Stick with the Bosch Oxygen sensor.
We would obtain such an Oxygen sensor, Bosch, from Andrew Page but any other reputable motor factor will do similar. Make sure it is Bosch and the exact one for your car which is easily determined from your registration number.
If you were in striking distance of Darlington we would do the whole job for you with probably change out of £100 without looking up prices on a Sunday.

That sounds ok, but I'm in Manchester.i was told it might even be the cat,all I know is the engine management light is on,car runs ok though, just don't want it goin into limp mode while I'm out and about.
Someone else mentioned denso lambda sensor.... Which is best and cheapest?

Fitted a Bosch today,the engine management light came back on within a minute ...... Now I'm told I should have only fitted a denso sensor

I may have a new genuine one that was ordered for a mate. Need to have a look. If I still have it I;ll take half price if it helps.

I'm gettin my emissions tested tomorrow to find out if it's this new lambda or the cat
