UK 6-SP. v. JDM DCCD 6-SP...???
As above, some Qs...
* Were they fitted to ALL of the New Age STis i.e. from MY01 Bug STi through to the current MY08 hatch STi? * Is the UK non-DCCD/longer geared 6-sp. stronger/less stressed than the JDM DCCD/close ratio version? * What kind of max. torque will each one happily run for everyday fast road driving? * 2nd hand, do they fetch pretty much the same dosh as each other (for like for like mileage/condition)? |
If only it were that simple...
For a bug-eye... 1. UK cars had longer fifth & sixth gears, and weak synchros... 2. JDM cars obviously had lower as above. 3. Any special models i.e.Type-RA had DCCD This all changes around the WR1, a UK car with DCCD... BY the Hawkeye I'm lost... HTH dunx P.S. Torque isn't an issue, they are all very strong. IMHO |
The MY05 onwards STi'd have 6sp DCCD-A aswell...

Drop gears are different
jdm 1 >1 uk 1>1.1 Had a jdm dccd box 70 is 3200 rpm , uk is 2750rpm and the hawk box that i now have is 2600rpm at 70 . thats 70 on the clock not gps. think what your using the car for and choose for application . |
Cheers. This is info for both me and my mate.
We both might get used Blobs or Hawks in the future that have had the works done to them e.g. full frame turbo/forged/stroker, etc. and 550+ bhp. We'll both defo get non-DCCD UK STi's as we both don't wish to have the extra 'tail happiness' that the DCCD-A box/diff provides. We'll only be using them on the road.... |
~Sorry, i meant to say that MY05on STi 'UK' cars had the DCCD-A as your post suggested that it was only the JDM cars had DDCD.
|
Ah, so ALL Hawk STis, regardless of JDM or UK, got DCCD-A! My mate won't be pleased to hear this...
|
Yup, UK Blobeye MY05 Sti (like mine) and UK Hawkeye MY06+ Sti
|
The earlier dccd split was 65/35 and from 05 changed to 59/41 iirc

Can you give me the date (or month in 2005) for when the UK Blob changed to DCCD-A?
Easiest way of telling a DCCD's Blob from a picture is that they have an extra trim, kinda like a wheel arch extension over the rear wheel arch. Like this: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...3/IMG_2300.jpg |
Even with the above it may not have A-DCCD as euro imports had this as an optional extra so you can get an MY05 STI without DCCD (IM put 1k on the price of the MY05 STI's to cover the A-DCCD cost).
Tony:) |
Ha. I'll just have to ask a prospective seller to take a picture of the area around the handbrake, and of the dash clocks then, to confirm... ;)
