1997 Impreza STi

For sale is my 1997 Impreza STi in white. I've thought about selling it before but always held onto it. However I don't use it anymore and it just sits on the drive week in, week out as it's a second car. The car is currently sorn but can be taxed at the buyers cost.
  • Circa 90k miles
  • MOT until June
  • Full STi spec, carbon instrument binacle, carbon front struct brace, red, grey and black STi interior etc
  • Stainless DP back exhaust
  • Induction kit
  • J Speed heat sheild
  • Rear upper strut brace
  • Red Rally Style mudflaps
  • Some service history
  • Recent oil change
  • New battery
The roof could do with respraying as there is some laquer peel. I covered the roof in black vinyl to disguise this a little. But tbh it wasn't the best job. The rear spats need refitting (included with the car) as there is some sticky stuff left over from removing. If I get chance I will remove this or refit the spats.

I'm looking for a quick sale before I change my mind. Hence the sale price of £2,200 ovno.

V4JDMSTi 25 February 2011 03:29 PM

Cheers fella. How's yours going?

L.J.F 25 February 2011 05:31 PM

It's been sitting on axle stands for 2 months and sorn'd for nearly 4 months. I have bits in the garage to fit but no motivation to do it:lol1:
will you be replacing the scoob down the line or do you think thats the last one you will have?

V4JDMSTi 26 February 2011 06:46 PM

That's how I got with this one. Got a bundle of bits in the shed but I lost interest. I'll probably get another one next year. I fancy a wagon next or a newage fir a bit of comfort.

Bttt.

He's taking it well because there was nothing wrong with it when he left. I took him out in it before he agreed to buy it and it wasn't slipping then and I didn't hold back. I did this to prove that the clutch, box and diff were fine. Nor did the boost pipe blow off. I've had one come off on me in the past on my old ra and it's not great. Because of this I always make sure that they are tight.

As I've already said to you via phone and text I'm sorry that you are disappointed but to my knowledge all was fine before you bought it. In my experience a clutch doesn't move it's bite point or start slipping within half hour. If you felt the bite was high you should have mentioned it before you drove off. Why would I not disclose something as obvious as a slipping clutch? It's only going to cause me problems. I'm a bit confused?

miib14 19 March 2011 11:28 PM

There is no point me complaining about the clutch for no reason and the boost pipe did blow off twice... no jubilee clips

oh yeah YOU took me round your house about 500 yards hardly had a chance to go over 20mph

clutch was high and its was slipping silly all the way back to Manchester (260 miles)?

i rang you telling you the problem but tbh after you where adamant that it was alright i didnt want to argue over the point

the car does drive nice so dont want to cause a argument but id would have liked to be told the clutch was slipping

also like you said you have driven the car less than 4k since 2009

personally i would like it if you could refund me something as a gesture if not i guess ill just have to wait till payday

im not going to let a slipping clutch ruin an otherwise perfect transaction

maybe he didnt know himself the clutch was slipping as it was hardly driven????

KAS35RSTI 19 March 2011 11:33 PM

You must have given it some for the boost pipes to come off?

He admitted that last oil change was done in 2009 when he bought it

Unlikely :) more likely they are on the road somewhere ;) Good car at a great price, even if the clutch has decided to disagree with a new owner its no great hardship :thumb: To blow a pipe and slip the clutch you must have been enjoying the new motor ;):D

KAS35RSTI 19 March 2011 11:56 PM

Mate i understand where you're coming from but when you buy a old car you buy a old car & you should expect to spend abit on it regardless of whats stated in the advert.

miib14 20 March 2011 12:02 AM

Iv never complained lol

im more than happy with the car...

it just the reply that made me comment

miib14 20 March 2011 12:06 AM

Let leave it to that...

what clutch should i go for ideas??

53 20 March 2011 12:14 AM

What plans do you have for the car ? A pink Exedy from Lateral Performance is an awesome choice for the 350 mark, have one in mine and it bites like a rottweiler :D

miib14 20 March 2011 12:29 AM

Plans are to keep it how it is at the moment till i get rid of my other car

V4JDMSTi 20 March 2011 01:11 AM

After letting the car warm up a little and after a first pass round, I accelerated right through the rev range in first, second and third after you asked if the clutch was ok so was doing well over 20mph. This would have shown if there was a problem. It would not have caused it to fail shortly after either. It would also have blown the boost pipe off then if there had been no clips on it.

For those wondering why the test route was a short one albeit further than 500 yrds, is because I had the car sorn and don't make a habit of breaking the law.

It's a bit strange that you are complaining that you didn't get to drive it as you asked me to drive it rather than drive it yourself which is a bit odd when buying a car.

I'm afraid I won't be making you a good will gesture refund as I am happy with how the car drove before you left and didn't withold any information on the car. Also I have no idea how it was treated on the drive home?

If I had concerns over the car these would have been advised to you or I would have removed the car from sale. Especially something like the clutch. I'm not the sort of person that likes to be stitched up so I don't make a habit of stitching people up.

I'm sorry that you aren't happy with the clutch but as above I am happy that the car was fine before it left my possesion.

KAS35RSTI 20 March 2011 01:36 AM

Well the buyer does agree he had a nice journey back. Who knows lol it might have been ragged to the tits. Oh well new clutch not that expensive.

:wonder:

Either way still a bargain
