Clutch Judder
 

Hi guys hope you can help, i own a 2001 bugeye wagon which had a clutch judder when i bought it a year down the line the clutch started to slip under power so i bought and had fitted an exedy pink organic clutch. Now i still get a judder more so when the car gets hot ive tried burning the clutch ive done hard launches but still it judders, ive proberly done about 3-4k on the clutch now but its getting to a point where its unbearable , if i rev it hard and launch fast now problem but just to drive normal its hard going. the clutch was a three part clutch and no i did not change the flywheel any help :notworthy

In order to help you, what clutch are you using exactly and where was it purchased from? Did you skim the flywheel?

this was from lateral performance and no im afraid i did not skim the fly wheel as this is my first scoobie i didn't know about it

Did you even inspect the flywheel when changing the clutch, checking the friction surface for excessive deposits and for run-out with a dial guage? This should be done on any car regardless of make when there is a judder issue. Basic car mechanics 101.

If it had uneven deposits, then it should have been skimmed at the very least, otherwise it can judder.

The flywheel will most likely need skimming (or better still uprate it for a lightweight forged one).

i did not fit the clutch i put it into a garage to be fitted

school boy error didnt skim flywheel

option 1 live with it and learn a lesson

option 2 take to garage have flywheel skimmed

option 3 buy a lightweight flywheel and fit that at least some good will come from it :)

The question with option one and two, would be to refit the current clutch. Especially the cover plate as the cover may have worn in sympathy to the flywheel.

If it were me I'd go over it with a fine-tooth comb before reusing.

You could try going back to the garage who fitted clutch explain what is happening see if they will fit new clutch and skim flywheel if you pay for parts needed.
