Impreza type R new age block

Could someone give me a rough idea of how much it would cost to stick a new age sti engine in (2.0 or 2.5, whichever easiest) an impreza type r? As i understand it the type r's engine is a little bit fragile and usually needs a rebuild. So I would want a new age engine into reliably support 400bhp. Finally lol would a 400bhp type r be very quick or will it run out of puff after 100mph? thanks for any info you can give me

how much have you got to spend?

Type R engine is good for 400 :)

With supporting mods obviously..

really, because i was thinking of getting an evo 8 and taking that too 400bhp as its quite easy. I will be getting one of them at the end of july. I only have about 10k though so I could get the type r and have about 4k left for mods. how would a 400bhp type r go against a 400bhp evo 8?

Depends mate both have there own advantages.

Master Seanis 22 February 2011 05:45 PM

i suppose, it is reasonable to get a good condition type r for 6k though yeah?

KAS35RSTI 22 February 2011 06:23 PM

6k would get you a near enough excellent type r.

I think if they had the same power the Type R would out accelerate the Evo due to the weight difference.

The close ratio gearbox in the Type R would cost you top end tho.
