wrx with mines ecu are they any good?
just brought a subaru impreza wrx the car has various mods the car drives fine but i think it boosts late the boost comes on at 3000-3500 rpm is this down to the mines ecu its running a td05 turbo my car is a 1992 wrx import its running 17psi
if the mines ecu is not right for this car what one should i go for to get good power thanks for the help ppl |
mines is a pretty aggressive map for jap cars. it will probably have been fiddled with as standard ron in jap land is 100 ron. your mines ecu will have been programmed for that. boost sounds sounds about right to me.

i would defo not use that ecu as it is. its been chipped by mines and is suitable only for high octain fuel. even tesco 99 ron is not enough. have a look on the lid of the ecu for two large letters. you may have to peel the mines sticker off. they shoudl be u8 or z4 or w6. if they are any of these they you could reconnect the j1 resistor and use the original map on the ecu and not the map on the mines chip which is fitted.
or you could replace the mines chip with a chip from 'major sarcasm' on here (its a safe generic chip) which will run 16psi and will work on 97ron or more fuel. lots of happy customers from him. chips cost £100ish if your no good with soldering or fiddly electrics then you have other options: -buy a z4 ecu of ebay - they go for about £40 and give a safe 260ps on optimax or tesco 99 ron. -buy a w6 ore u8 ecu of ebay - they go for about £20 and give a safe 240ps on optimax or tesco 99 ron. - buy an aftermarket ecu and have it mapped for your car - £500 plus - but potential for 280 or more bhp. |
i run a mine z4 ecu in a 1995 wrx it runs at 273bhp and 280torque with just a full decat had it on the rollers a few times on tesco 99 and shell and its fueling ect is perfect never had any issues at all had the car 2 years

another thing to consider apart from the obvious need for at least 100 ron fuel is that Mines ECUs often don't have any sort of rev limiter so will just rev and rev, my old Mines tuned Sunny GTIR was very easy to over rev and this probably caused it's untimely demise.

Fantastic tuning company name Mines lol goes like dynamite with a bang

i have just bought a simtek just getting the bits together and fitted for the jgm to get his paws round it

I have had a Mines ecu for about 2 years now swear by it full decat induction kit td05 20gram 440 injectors boost controller turned upto 22psi made just shy of 400bhp on the rollers runs like a dream no det and run it on tesco 99. All I hear is bad things about these Ecu's but mine runs perfectley with no issues(fingers crossed), maybe I have just got lucky.
