Road Test Handling / Brakes

Gave the car its first proper handling & brake test since fitting the mods & alignment by FB Tuning. Eibach Camber bolts all round; CDF Racing Anti Lift kit; Custom fast road alignment & EBC NDX blue pads all round, running on RE070's & DDCD set to Auto. Results were awesome to say the least! The car's handling inspired huge overall confidence, very precise & sharp turn in & finitely adjustable, very well composed over all surfaces with compliancy over yumps (thanks also to std suspension & not coilovers), stable at all speeds, rear end set up just how I like it where it can be provoked if you try hard enough, excellent feedback through the wheel (ALK helped here IMO). The RE070's in today's dry warm weather performed amazingly well & the NDX pads (on std Brembo discs & gold calipers) gave excellent feel & stopping power. In fact at times I worried that if I stop too well the car behind might have a hard time stopping in time!! Though at next pad change I will go back to Performance Friction Z pads to do a back to back comparison. The NDX are amazing at slowing you down from any speed, they almost pull you out of your seat, but Im still not 100% sure whether the PF Z pads gave a better final bite to come to complete stop? Either way they'r by far the best two pads Iv tried over the years.

Seems like all the research on here, trial & error over the last few years & cars , advice / help from you guys & help from FB tuning have really got this side of the car sorted & importantly also in not wasting time & money on unnecessary mods. :thumb:

Now onto the next stage :)

Next couple of weeks time hopefully going back to FB Tuning to finish off engine / exhaust bits & remap. :) Also an alloy 42mm core radiator will have to be ordered in the next couple of months along with a nice new & loud, non-gay, Horn for the car!

Opinions needed on one of the two Roof Spoliers below please:

ps I have'nt listed an OEM one or HT Autos /ABW std looking one as they will require painting & may need drilling into bodywork to fit :( Can't be bothered to paint & definetley wont be drilling into bodywork. (May also add two Perrin wing Stiffis in the rear wing).

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KAKUMEI-IMPREZ...item1e5990012e

or

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
(waiting for reply from seller to see if this needs drilling into bodywork to fit, it does say however simple installation, will have to wait for answer)

jura11 01 April 2011 02:23 PM

Kakumei will be for me weapon of choice,i don't like second one due as you are said you are need drill,if you are just fit with tiger seal, this will hold but on how long, somewhere i here post pics what may happen,if is fitted just with Tiger Seal.

Good luck with your project

Kaumei it is then! The other one also requires drilling as seller said 3m and Tiger seal may not last long esp on motorways! J

madisonmonkey 01 April 2011 03:56 PM

Don't start sticking pointless crap on your car Ricky. Just get rid of that massive nobby spoiler and be done.

Give me a bell, I was supposed to going to Maggs this afternoon to replace the perished valves in my wheels, but I'm still in work so I'll be going around tomorrow at some point:(
