As they buy cars from £50 to a £100000 what do they do with the lower end cars or do carcraft sell £250 scrappers?

zs_phil 16 February 2011 09:44 PM

they dont sell them as surely no one actually sells a car to them

SpecDscooby 16 February 2011 09:48 PM

Good question, but i will tell ya they buy a bloody lot of cars at the moment, and make a bloody lot of ££££.....all that advertising is certainly not cheap!...I bet they sell some at carcraft, and have a dealer network for the rest>?

nik52wrx 16 February 2011 09:50 PM

I know, my question is what do carcraft do with the crap cars they buy for £50?

Given the VERY high cost of steel at the moment i expect they scrap them and make about £350 a time in scrap steel alone mate

peter zippy reid 16 February 2011 09:52 PM

car craft and they get finance for almost anybody my mate did it bought a scrapper focus off them screen price was £4995 with something like 40 percent finance the worse your credit rating is the worse the finance is making a fortune

sti-04!! 16 February 2011 09:56 PM

Carcraft. The rest end up at the auction.

movi-star 16 February 2011 09:56 PM

They sell the nice ones at Carcraft and the rest go to auctions, the price the muppets who sell their cars to them for is below auction base value, hence WBAC should always make a profit.

Latest advert makes me laugh, profiting out of peoples laziness & stupidity that WBAC is a good idea for selling your car!

Steve vRS 16 February 2011 10:03 PM

They are creating the perception that the car selling process is really dangerous and that to stop a man coming to your house and killing everyone, then driving off in your car, sell it to them and get butt-****ed instead.

I heard they punt on the cheaper cars to Branning Brothers, they polish them up and sell them to the good people of the East End.

:lol1: dont think id pay £50 for a car from there

The quality stuff does indeed go to carcraft whereas the tat goes to the auction block. They lose money on some cars at the block just like ANY dealer but the profits made elsewhere more than cover any losses, again just like any dealer.

I've worked in the trade for 6 years and in my experience, WBAC do nothing any different to any of the lower end dealers who work on tight margins, ie make a low offer to try and get the p/x as cheap as possible if they want to retail it.

JTaylor 17 February 2011 08:18 AM

Is anyone going to mention Carcraft?

pslewis 17 February 2011 08:50 AM

What's CarCraft got to do with anything?

Maz 17 February 2011 09:03 AM

Who?

tony de wonderful 17 February 2011 09:13 AM

I can only imagine that's it's people desperate for a quick sale (their violent drug dealer needs paying immediately for example) or idiots too lazy or stupid to sell their car properly and I'm thinking most are women?

austinwrx 17 February 2011 12:36 PM

I bet there is a lot of high end performance stuff, or thirsty 4 x 4 petrol stuff going their way:

a lot of people just won't be able to afford the fuel, or insurance etc.

bit like scoobies: dirt cheap to buy: but not an affordable day to day car by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm sure there are plenty of people with BMW/Mercedes/Audi/etc that just cannot sell them as there simply is no market whatsoever for their cars.

People sell to them because it's simple and easy. People will pay a lot for that convenience!

Especially when certain cars take an age to sell privately ... Scoobies sit in that spot light. Then someone offers something, anything, and they sell.

You can't blame them, really - can you?

windyboy 17 February 2011 02:39 PM

they offered me £50 for my car (I was bored one day in work) but they wanted me to take it to Glasgow !!! it would of cost me more than that to get it there !!!!

chris270181 17 February 2011 08:51 PM

The cheap cars go through carcrafts own trade sale, held at various sites, its very rare the top end stuff goes on retail (ie sold at carcraft) They're normally shipped off to auctions and dealer networks.

+Doc+ 18 February 2011 08:12 AM

The best stuff goes to Carcraft, the crap goes to auction...suprising no one has mentioned this fact.

salsa-king 18 February 2011 09:07 AM

I tested th ewater with WBAC.com on my Smart Roadster at the start of the year, 2004/54 plate 14k miles. stunning immaculate car with nice extras... they offered £2700!!!

i sold via Pistonheads (it only took 13days from advertising to selling with money in my hand) and I sold at £6100.
Could have got a bit more too but didn't want to look a gift horse etc with such a quick sale of a yellow soft top selling in mid Jan. lol

there is a WBAC.com valuation centre in Nottm.. next door to it has opened up a car sales room.. all nice cars.. does make me think the cars have come from next door!

Terminator X 18 February 2011 09:18 AM

Only fools it seems would sell to WBAC :cuckoo:
