Petrol smell normal?
On my 03 Sti whenever tank is between half and full I can always smell petrol vapour around rear of car outside. Had good look and smell but can't source it. Anyone know any common faults or is this just normal through breather pipes.
I've checked rubber on fuel pump cover and looks fine. |
Dose the 03 have the charcoal filter like the 06 which is under the rear bumper drivers side?

Not aware of any common faults, but you certainly should not be able to smell petrol fumes comming from your car.
The fuel system (if in std guise) is a sealed system.. The days of having "breather pipes" on the fuel tank are long gone... Cars are not allowed to vent hydrocarbons (fuel vapour) into the atmosphere anymore & now store them in a carbon canister until you put your foot down, at which point a valve opens and the fumes are sucked into the engine to be burned off. |
Yes it does i believe Like a box behind rear wheel?

got this prob on my blobeye ever since i put a walboro fuel pump on gasket seems fine on tank :Suspiciou

Mine had walboro pump on too. Might get a gasket and eliminate it then if you have similar problem. Which gives me another question. How long do fuel pumps tend to last? Mines been on from nearly new with ppp upgrade and now has 70,000 on it. I've noticed it buzzs quite loud on start up but buzzing likes it's struggling to keep up.
