Anyone been to Bora Bora?
If so can you recommend a resort to stay at and any must do activities? Me & the mrs have always fancied going but kept it for something special so will be looking to book for our honeymoon next may.

Stay at the St Regis resort, it is lovely... Not a particularly good holiday destination anyway, facilities are a bit crap, waiters are downright rude, and it literally looks like a bomb's hit the place :D |

You're both wrong, or half-right - OBL was bunkered down in Tora Bora (which means 'black caves' in Pasthun, apparently).

I've never been to Polynesia, but I did some reading up on a few French travel forums (pointless regurgitating stuff from English-speaking sites you could easily find yourself): - Bora Bora is by far the most expensive of the islands. If you went to Moorea instead for example, you'd have a far greater variety of hotel prices and other accommodation options to choose from (including short-term house rentals, usually better value than most hotels), and also a wider range of places to eat out and shop. Lots of hotels to choose from, but the www.atuanalodge.com is well worth a look with fantastic views of Tahiti across the water. - Although more expensive, Bora Bora is an amazing place, especially the lagoon and the manta rays, and far less crowded than people make out. If money's no object, the Four Seasons has service second to none. - if you're going to do any island hopping, Huahine is often recommended as a secondary location, especially if you want to see the wilder, more natural side of the area. - you should definitely try the 'piloti' style bungalows, for a couple of nights at least. The ones at the Maitai on Bora Bora are supposedly very good, but ask for one further away from the beach for better comfort. The Sofitel Moorea has very nice ones if you decide to go there, or the Te Tiara on Huahine. Best activities are bicycle hire to get around the island (no cars or public transport), hiking, snorkeling, canoeing - all of which should be available on any of the islands. Have fun, and don't get too much sand in your thong :D |
Thanks for the input Mark. We have our hearts set on Bora Bora as it's our Honeymoon. We started looking at the St Regis but already prefer what we've read about the 4 Seasons. Was surprised at the prices as everyone makes out it's u expensive but if you compare to say the Maldives it's pretty similar.

Stay at the St Regis resort, it is lovely... Tora Tora is a hard rock band formed in Memphis, TN in 1985. Tora! Tora! Tora! (トラ・トラ・トラ!) is a 1970 American/Japanese war film. |
