Has anybody done this before ? is there any current roadworks etc that we need to be aware of ?

We may also be stopping along the way (depending on bladder capacity and the amount of fizzy pop taken) so are there any Services etc along the way

It is supposed to be a 5 hour drive (non stop) so does this seem about right ?

Any other advice will be greatly appreciated...

Stranraer to Carlisle on the A75 is a good drive, just be careful of mobile speed traps. The first services are just the other side of Dumfries, and they do sell V-Power, its 75 miles away from Stranraer though, so check your fuel range before leaving Stranraer!!:thumb:
