Link Engine Management " Any Good "
On my built i am thinking of upgrading my ecu from a Ecutek to a link fella. Any feedback would be great :thumb:
|
I think the Ecutek is more modern, therefore better?
I have a LINK and it's regarded as "old technology" now. |
I think they have introduced new ecu's and features like the G4. I would like launch control, anti lag, maf less, etc
|
When Bob Rawle mapped my car he had a car booked in for mapping a link, he said it was easier as it could be mapped live but there were better ones about.....

Thx Shaun, I need to do more poking about.

Motec M800 a bit old now but powered RCMS gobstopper and good value second hand :D Shaun |
Expensive Shaun.
|
I've lost track of your 2.5 build..........have you got AVCS heads ?
Shaun |
No AVCS
|
My LINK runs MAF-less.
|
I have done some digging on the net, and not sure now. Although what i have read is not about the extreme G4. :wall:
|
What is your plan for the car?
|
My plan is to have a quick wagon for taking my dogs a walk. :thumb:
|
If you don't need to run the AVCS to the max then a Megarom later OEM DENSO ECU with EcuTeK Might do the business :)
Have a mooch around the EcuTeK website :) Shaun |
As you going to be investing a fair chunk of money into the engine, I would go with a syvecs as it has active knock control. If it detects knock it will retard the timing and stop the engine from destroying itself.
You can also wire in sensors for oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, exhaust temp and fuel pressure so if any of them are go beyond safe running the ecu will kill the engine or go into limp mode. Yes it is a lot of money but I feel it is the one of the main reason I made the power I did and the engine has lasted as long as it has :) |
i'm using link. link g4 has knock input. you can buy knock block and then can use two knock sensors.
linkecu.com read more:) |

Whats it like starting up from cold. Thx again for any input, it really does help |
I was running 470 on my old supra on a g4. No issues, once it had a proper map :)

I'm looking at tweaking my Skyline up a bit and all the Skyline forums seem to rave about the Link G4, some running big numbers. So today I've been to MGT racing in Nuneaton, I mentioned the Syvecs unit and they said it was a better ecu but it also cost quite a bit more. I don't think the Syvecs is as straight forward to fit to a Skyline as the G4 is.
|
I also believe that Syvecs there is loads that normal drivers don't need.

Scoobyclinic are doing the Syvecs for £1695 fitted and mapped here. I think they do the Link as well, maybe give them a ring and speak to Kev. That's my next step. :thumb: |
Somebody can supply, fit and map a syvecs including dyno time for £1500, if I fail to mention the VAT like others have in their post :) lol but I mentioned the dyno time also which they didnt.
Link G4 I believe will cost you £860+VAT for the unit and then mapping of upto £400+VAT + dyno time.. There is also obviously the SimTek option Simon |
