Also does it make a differenec if my films are a mix of region 1 and 2?

Hello

I like WinDVD (but you have to pay for it).

Whatever software you get, I can recommend downloading a piece of software called DVD Genie. This changes almost all software DVD players to be multi-region compatable.

Does matter what region discs are, though as steve says, get dvd genie and problems are sorted.

Personally I prefer PowerDVD to view DVD's

but real fave is to use my Apple Mac Powerbook G4, cos it has widescreen and its trull excellent for use on a train.

Direct DVD 4.0 is a good un, so is Inter Actual Player.

Some DVD-ROM's are now hardware region locked as well, it would be worth checking to see if yours is or not. If it is, it will refuse to read DVD's of a different region regardless of the software player you are using.

This may not be the case (quite a few ROM's are region free and let software do the checking) but worth looking at just in case.
