are you using the one on 3rd cylinder?

wrx9181 24 January 2011 06:58 PM

Yes mate but so bloody akward and need yet another adapter or nut as one supplied is way too small.
Peed off with it

alcazar 24 January 2011 07:06 PM

Yes, it needs an adaptor, your gauge supplier ought to be able to supply, what gauges do you have?

I put mine in by screwing a plastic ballpoint pen barrel temporarily into the adaptor, which gave me enough reach to start it in the threads, then finished it off with a socket. It has PTFE tape wrapped round it and doesn't need forcing home. Sender was long enough to start it, then spanner.

Try and use some long tongs, is this the sender unit adapter your trying to fit?

wrx9181 24 January 2011 07:19 PM

It won't go in as I took it out looked like had been paint marked
Like some
Bolts are but just won't spin in
****tin it now incase I've ruined threads

wrx9181 24 January 2011 07:23 PM

Yes just took nut out to see fit what I had would fit and it wouldn't so went to put it straight back in as obviously I'll be waiting for other bolt adapter and it won't go

Are you sure its the right size? LMA motorsport are good people to deal with when buying sender unit adapters.

Does the black plastic t hose adapter in pic pull out?

wrx9181 24 January 2011 07:42 PM

It original one I'm putting back mate as didn't no o needed one for this too but after removing it was way too big a hole for little thread I had to put in?
No jokes please lol

KAS35RSTI 24 January 2011 08:25 PM

Lool

wrx9181 24 January 2011 08:37 PM

no worry matey
thanks for your time

wrx9181 25 January 2011 11:54 AM

Do you think I've cross treaded first thread and that why won't go in?

alcazar 25 January 2011 01:19 PM

Did you say there is paint on the threads? Sure it's not threadlock?

Try cleaning it off gently with a sharp instrument before refitting, DO use PTFE tape.

If you put PTFE tape on, you can usually turn the first few threads by hand, then it needs a spanner, with not much force, but is beyong hand tightening.

If you took the sender out of one adaptor, are you sure your new threads are the same as the sender?

Hi I'm waiting on adaptor mate as until I took bolt out didn't realise one I had was way to small .
So it's original bolt as piccy.
Waiting for adaptor now and leaving bolt out as new one may go in easy ( he says praying and with crossed fingers toes etc)
But think the plastic t in pic made me scew at wrong angle so I'll remove this then refit .
Group prayer please
