Does anyone have a spreadsheet that they use for working out MPG?

I have knocked together a fairly simple number that I update everytime I fill up with petrol – it just works out mpg by taking the number of miles I have travelled on the last tankful of petrol. Crude, but seems to work.

However, I can’t seem to get anywhere near the numbers that are quoted in various magazines etc for fuel consumption, despite a reasonable cross section of driving. In particular MWay driving seems to knock my MPG down, despite always keeping to reasonable speeds.

How does everyone else keep track of fuel consumption? I had tried searching the net to find a handy MPG calculator, but no joy http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

I just use miles per tank divided by number of litres used times 4.54.

ie 160 / 50 * 4.54 = 14.53mpg

I use a very simple system using a note pad and pen. Each time I fill up, I record mileage/no of litres/cost.This is one of those 'sad',but enlightning things I've always done since owning my first car.
Just a simple calculation needed after that to convert litres to gallons.
It certainly gives you an idea as to how much you car costs in fuel and shows you how much petrol has increased in price over a period of time!

After two weeks of driving the Turbo, I've been getting around 24mpg compared to 28-30 in the Sport I had before.

I too use a spreadsheet. Filling up from empty every time, and keeping the receipts. The most I have had is 33mpg - steady 75 mph, 300 mile trip.

With mixed driving I get 23 mpg

I always work to 300 miles per tank. Last week filled up at 289 miles ansd got 53 litres in, I reckon I could get 320 if I let it run out. Not much point in that though eh?

I think that's about 24mpg as I believe 60 litres is the equivalent of 13.2 gallons. That's mixed driving with regular "go turbo" action! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I have always worked out fuel econ in my head, but it has just occurred to me how strange it is for all of us to do this sort of monitoring http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif I still reset the trip each time I fill up even though I currently have a company Primera and paid-for-fuel. At £4 a gallon (roughly) if you get 100 miles per £10 it is 40mpg etc etc. Work it down that way.

Wouldn't it be great to just fill up when empty and not worry about it, then fill up again http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
