Noisy engine

My engine has started to make a ticking noise, which goes when its warmed up (half way mark) but is noisy as anything when cold. The strange thing is, it will tick quite loud, then stop and after a min or so start to tick again.

It sounds exactly like the car in this video;

Sounds like an old Ford CVH engine.

Please tell me its a bad injector and not big end knock...

Could well be the hydraulic valve lifters in your year of car. With age, they will lose oil when stationary especially if the cam is holding some valves open. they then take a while to re-pressurise. ( which is just what the CVH used to do!)

as john d mentioned cvhs were prone for this when i had a rs trubo yrs back that did it too i changed the oil and put some slick 50 in tooo which cured it maybe you could look into if boxers engines are ok with using some slick i wouldnt see a resaon why not for the price of trying again new valve lifters
