1994 import engine into uk 1999? Please help

Hi guys,

Right, my lovely classic has decided to eat its crankshaft woodruff key and destroy the crank so im after a replacement engine bloody fast!!

Ive found an engine from a WRX 1994 (import) and what i desparatetly need to know tonight is will it fit into my 1999 uk turbo? If not what are the differences, will my wiring connect to it and what would i have to change?, i have a complete (but f*cked) uk donor engine if anything such as manifolds need changing?

cheers

ive just done an engine change and aslong as you keep the wireing loom from your engine and put it onto the new one all should be good to go

Thanks for the reply mate. So the manifolds etc should be interchangable?

my one was a 1997 turbo 2000 and i bought a 1999 sti engine and swaped the manifold and wireing looms over and hey presto :)

Sweet, was the sti lump an import then? Did you run the sti turbo or your standard 2000 one?

94 and 99 inlet manifold are not interchangable mate as the stud pattern on the heads for the manifold is different as is the loom:thumb:

Cheers everyone I'll have to weigh up my options (or lack of them).
Really not sure what to do, don't really want to spend a fortune as I haven't got it to spend! Rebuild isn't viable as the timing sprocket has taken rather a liking to the crankshaft nose and won't budge!! You guys suggest any decent suppliers of refurbs?
