Very anoying clicking
my car has developed a very anoying clicking/ticking in the engine
as i accelerate it gets quicker im kind of worried about this any ideas???? |
|
Where abouts in the bay is it coming from?
|
I've got the same problem on my 1993 wrx. It's sounds like it's coming from the left hand side of the engine.
|
bottom end i would say, my wrx wagon started the same:cry:
|
Sorry to jump in on your thred Dan but i have the very same problem, i have even tried to descibe the sound to other people by saying it sounds like the above picture lol.
Mine started after a missed gear and a over rev, does this sound like bottom end is on its way out? |
I wouldnt say it was the bottom end just yet. I had a stone caught in my tyre which made a clicking noise the faster i got. Also in my previous car, i had something caught in my brake caliper which sounded the same. Is it doing it when the car is idle, or is it just when its moving?
|
Could be a small leak at any of the manifold joints.
In such a scenario a 'ticking' noise is heard i.e. the speed of the exhaust gasses escaping, getting quicker as the revs rise. |
As the OP hasn't replied.

as some one has said could be mainfold if it gets a hole in it, it will make a ticking noise, hopefully it is that as all you need to do is weld it up.

Don't forget the engine generally makes a racket: injectors, tappets, etc., etc...
|
ive been told possibly tappits??
however i looked under the car today and i have a small leak from the exhaust manifold so ill sort that and see if that helps also the noise is present whilst stationary and idleing |
Could well be a manifold leak then.
|
my bcs is louder than my engine on tickover

To cure ticking of the Bcs remove the mounting screws and take out the steel tube through the middle of the rubber isolating bush. The rubber goes hard over the years and the metal bush starts to make contact with the body.
You'll need a small touch of thread lock to stop the bolts unscrewing, as you only need to pinch the rubber bush and the bolts will still be loose, but it'll stop the noise. OR buy new bushes ?? David APi |

David APi I've been contemplating this for the last few weeks, to have it confirmed is excellent.:thumb: As i have to have the i/c of today, i shall remove said 'tubes' on the bcs at the same time. :thumb: |
