TRACKER YES/NO
Hi , my 03 sti has a tracker fitted as standard which i've been paying for a few years now , but i'm thinking that when i renue end of jan i might cancel it . i've had a quote without it running, but i was wondering that as its fitted as standard do you have to have it activated ?
so does anyone else not have it activated on there sti ? cheers, Rob. |
not 100% sure mate sure someone will know soon, but i dont think you have to have it activated, as long as your insurance knows if you are insured with it activated. some also require you have a tracker, mine doesnt and i dont have one either.
|
mine has 1 fitted as standard also and the insurance company were fine with it not being activated.
|
Had one on the Spec C & didn't pay for it to be activated. The tracker co will hassle you to pay up though ;)

i dont have a tracker fitted but when i was messing around with my insurance quote i did put put down i had one fitted. after i already had my first quote i put down i had a tracker and it went up by £20 weird, isn't it suppose to bring it down
|
Ive got one fitted but not activated. Insurance told me they didnt require it activated, as it wouldnt affect my premium
|
the way i see it, if some scrote takes your car he's not goin to drive it like he's drivin his nan to tescos is he ? he'll be hammering the fu*ck out of it would you really want it back ? i would'nt and didnt make a difference in my premium anyway.
|
I have the Factory Tracker and wasnt need to be activated for insurance
Then again they are only £50 on ebay and NO subscription either. Just bung a Pay as you go Sim in it and when you call it up you get a txt with its Location Gotta be better than the subscription and is what i am going to do Ian |
I have a tracker, insured by directline, the premium came down and im not covered for theft if it's not activated.

If only you knew how easy it is to steal a subaru.

Cat 1 Alarm/Imobiliser with sufice in most casses unless the above aplies |
Why not tell everyone your tracker isnt active. Not something you should be posting on here.:nono:

A tracker only benefits the insurance co in my opinion. If the insurance co do not lower the cost accordingly which most don't then this is why I've not registered/reactivated mine.
If I had a £40-50 discount for having the tracker activated then I'd consider it otherwise **** em. I get paid if it gets nicked anyway. The only one to benefit is the insurance co , why help them at your cost.? I'm interested in these pay as you go ones...anyone got any info on this? There is a part of me which does not want to know who has stolen my car....because I'm one of those people who would find it difficult not to do something about it. That way johnny car thief stays out of hospital but I stay out of jail. I just want the ****ers caught |
