i have an astra 3dr sport hatch sri 1.9cdti xp (150). very little vision and a tad cramped. performance wise (not too bad, a bit on the boring side). Looks good from the outside i suppose

Not owned but driven.
If it was a performance motor then I can see the point of asking opinions on this forum (in the correct section obviously :thumb: )

But if it is just a common hatchback, you have probably got a better chance of searching for reviews on google.

In my opinion, it drove very nice, felt well made but under powered for the power it was supposed to have.

cheers chaps....will will ava ganda on vauxhall forums.

just thought on the off chance maight be a few peeps on here that av had 1/drove. regurads

I had one for a few years and quite liked it, a 55 plate 1.9 CDTi

Like pjarvis said you have little vision out of it, and it would torque steer under hard acceleration, but for a diesel it was fairly quick and handled ok.

cockneymfc 06 January 2011 05:15 PM

had a 2.2sri on a 02 plate good car and went well the only bad point of mine was the driver seat wear very quicky that was the only thing it got 105000 on the clock now and the old dear drive it now still go well

bolasti 06 January 2011 05:23 PM

anybody got any experience with the 1.8 sri petrol (125bhp) would peeps say diesel better?

Grim_Rasta 06 January 2011 05:42 PM

I didn't try a petrol one, but I can say the one I drove had 150bhp and you could rag it around to your hearts content and still get around 45 miles per gallon! :)

bolasti 06 January 2011 05:44 PM

now that sounds fun.....the diesel hold the money more than the petrol

TonyBurns 06 January 2011 05:45 PM

How old an astra?
There are 2 diesels to go for really, the 120ps 16v and the 150ps 16v, avoid the 120ps 8v, its not as quick as the 16v version believe it or not ;) and they changed other mechanical parts like the clutch, gearbox etc.

Vision is good if you get the 5 door, it gives you a bit of a shock if you get the sports hatch (same as I own), as it is quite restrictive out the back, but you actually get use to it and then its not too bad :lol1:

I have only had one issue in 36k miles (on 52k now, bought at 16k) and that was the boost solenoid went (sorted under warranty), its recommended to replace the water pump at 50k intervals as they are cheap and nasty, otherwise there are little issues but nothing too serious as cars go.

You should get between 45-50mpg on a motorway run (80ish mph), you can quite easily get 38-40mpg in town also, brakes are good, lots of feel to them and the car is pleasant to be in and actually quite well built over the older astra G.

Tony:)

TonyBurns 06 January 2011 05:46 PM

I should add that I have a 55 plate 120 16v 1.9cdti which come in the 120ps and 150ps guise.

Tony:)

bolasti 06 January 2011 06:00 PM

cheers tony.....looking at 05 plate:thumb:

TonyBurns 06 January 2011 06:02 PM

They went 8v on the MY06 cars on the 1.9 cdti engines, easiest way to tell is open the bonnet, if the oil filler cap is on the right then its a 16v, if its on the left then its an 8v ;)

Tony:)

I used to own a Corsa 1.8 SRi, performance wasn't earth shattering but reasonable enough for what it was, nearly 30mpg mixed driving too. :)

bolasti 07 January 2011 06:12 PM

thx mate
