Early ECU info?

Evening all, i have a 94 WRX JDM Classic with a Z4 ecu which is boosting 1 bar. I know Z4s boost 0.9 bar standard and wondering if my full de-cat is making the car over-boost by 0.1. ?

When i get the funds i will go for a mappable ecu, Simtec or daughter board. i dont 100% trust chips, even tho i have researched Polar chips and other performance chips.

Your opinions will be greatful. Cheers

the z4 does increase boost matey to 1 bar standard boost is 0.9 bar.

How accurate is your boost gauge? when i had a z4 in my 1995 jdm wrx my boost gauge was showing 0.8 bar which i put down to the inaccuracy of the boost gauge

A decat and a slightly inaccurate boost gauge would probably do that.

Is the gauge electric or mechanical?

Where does the boost gauge needle sit with the engine switched off. I had one that sat at .2 bar vacuum and the was a £40 mechanical smiths gauge.

standard boost for a z4 is about 0.88 bar and as above yes a decat will cause some creap and yes the gauge might be slightly over reading.

Its a mechanical boost gauge and when the engine is off its bang on centre, smooth movment too. Had other turbo cars where the needle flickers, but this one is good.

Can you fit Polar chips to Z4's? Not that im going to do this, just wondering.

as long as it has the free spot for the chip then yes no probs

Yes you can fit that chip to the z4 and why not? It's a vey good map and is definately worthwhile:thumb:

Borrowed from a b13bat post elsewhere.

Z4 ECU 1995/1996 WRX
12.7PSI (0.9BAR), DROPPING TO 11.7PSI (0.8BAR) @ 6600RPM.
FUEL CUT 15.65PSI (1.08BAR).
260PS (256 BHP) @ 7250RPM.

Mine is over boosting and is fine off boost, but as soon as you touch accelerator on boost it pops bangs and you go through the windscreen, and the COF light flashes.

Will be unwinding my actuator tomorrow.

James haven't you got sti engine in yours now??? sti cams won't run on a wrx ecu, there is a fair difference in cam profile.:thumb:
