2000AWD TURBO WONT RUN

ok
so i was driving home from work and got a call on the mobile, so i pulled into the layby to take the call.
car still running okidoki.
after i finnish the call i pull out of the layby to head down the road. everything seeming fine.
then all of the sudden the engine stopped, no warning or coughing or spluttering. it just stopped.
so i put it in the garrage to get fixed and they couldnt find anything. the car will start and runn for 4 or 5 secs but just die after that. you can start the car and rev it, but again it just dies after 4 or 5 secs.
i have replaced the crank sensor, the cam sensor, the fuel fillter, the fuel pump,
spent a small fortune gettin the electrics checked, disconnected the exhaust incase that was blocked, and by passsed all the fuel lines incase they were the problem, but nothing,
i am at a loss and cant think of anything else.
can somebody please help as i need my car.

thankyou keith

Did you put it in to a subaru speciallist or a local back street garage?

Sounds like a fuel pump issue to me.

if you have the Sigma alarm then it could be that.
i had the same problem on mine (99 UK) and it was the immobiliserthat was cutting the fuel pump circuit.
it seem that the voltage on the FP relays fry the PCB on the board.
What you have to do is to bypass it, but the spark cut ciruit will still work (it cuts the fuel and the ignition).
i had LOADS of fun with mine!:brickwall

not got a subaru garage near where i stay.

just to get it to the nearest garage will cost me £175
thats before they do any work on it.

the other common problem is the big multiplug on the rear seat sometimes melts, and that will cause the FP not to work, so check that as well.

Has the car ever had a crash? sounds like a fuel cut off switch is playing up.

I would get a pro to do that, but that costs cash for the callout, its up to you, either spend money on your car and get her to a speciallist or let it sit there for some time, trying to bypass the alarm on your own will possably lead to invalidating your insurance, the £175 quid to get the car to a dealer/speciallist may work out cheaper than bunging her into a local garage or getting an auto electrican to remove your sigma and install a decent alarm, and that may not even be the problem....

What codes did you get when you checked the CEL?
