That is a old router and most likely the problem mate. Go down to pc world and grab a new one that is compatible.

i have had 2 running not at the same time mind.
I have netgear DGN 2200 and run PS3 and Xbox at the same time all day long. How old is your house? mine is only 6yrs old and there is loads of wire meshing in the walls that caused me drop outs as the signal was weak in one area of the house. Try Develo wall plugs.. put one near the router and the other near the Xbox, it uses the house wiring system and sends the signal that way, no need for wireless :) http://www.amazon.co.uk/156671-Devol...3970033&sr=1-4 |
I run 2 xboxs on my 3 year old netgear router along with the laptop and iphone never had any problems except for the ps3 cant get that to even connect to the bloody thing

the speed is in relation to distance from the exchange, therefore if you live right on top of the exchange you will get 20meg. Here in IOM (i work for local telecoms provider) we always state that it is distance related and you can get upto 'whatever speed' its not guaranteed. i was getting 6meg and should have been getting close to 16 ( our highest) made some changes to the internal wiring of the phone sockets and it jumped upto 14meg. As Sky are your provider i would ask them to check for noise on the line... this can be many things! they should be able to tell you how far away you are from the exchange too ... more than 3K away and id say your about right for the speed |
We run 3 xbox's on mine with the mrs surfing facebook too, all at the same time.

oh just one more thing if anyone knows(as there are some good tech heads on here:thumb:) can you use a laptop as a sort of gateway for the old xbox to become wireless...because at the moment i have a ethernet cable which is longer than the m1 running from her bedroom downstairs to router(only did this last night until i bought a wireless adapter)now as her laptop is wireless could i sort of configure it so i can plug a small ethernet cable into laptop and other end into her xbox and use the wifi from laptop?? that woul save the ulgy wire going round the house and save me about 40 sheets buying a wireless adapter:)

router, and convert it to a repeater. Failing that, either buy an Ethernet bridge, or a proper wireless dongle Although you still need it to talk to the router Mart |
You can use a wireless laptop & xbox360 as a wireless connection for the xbox 360.
All you need to do is a bridge connection. http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...+wireless&aq=f The old homehub it works with Bt, no other broadband provider. Your best bet is to buy a Netgear router or similiar. |
You coul buy a Wifi adapter for the old xbox, will probably cost £30-£50 though
Loads on ebay to start you off http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_t...All-Categories |
thanks for all you help everyone:notworthy just gonna buy a decent router and a wireless adapter:thumb: be easier in the long run
