Recommendations for Netbook?

My daughter's Christmas present is going back (electric violin, can't be tuned as it is rubbish).

So .. she wants a netbook. Any suggestions? I am looking at the lower end of the price scale as she is only 10.

I would pick up a cheap laptop as netbooks are a pain. I use an Acer netbook and it constantly moves the cursor around in your sentence for no reason. As I typed this short messgae out I have noticed the cursor typing words words out in the middle of my thread 3 times :(

I have an ASUS Eee pc and it's great. It is running a cut down version of Linux, so it's only good for Internet browsing, and e mail. I have expanded the storage on it so I can keep some pics on.

I suggest that if it's for a 10 year old look for a second hand bargain, you can get some good deals on e bay.

Personally, Samsung as I've been running an NC10 for just under 2yrs, and it's been faultless.

Another shout for the NC10 here. If you watch the Gadget show, the only netbooks there put in their prize draw are Samsungs :thumb: If it's good enought for Suzi :D

Thank you for the suggestions.

So the Samsung N150 Plus is the new equivelant on the NC10?

Another one for the Samsung NC10. :thumb:

Had mine coming up for 2 years. It's been excellent. Although we have a Toshiba 'grown up' laptop, I always prefer using this. It's an ace little machine. :D

I bought my GF an Acer Aspire One and Im happy with it. I have an eMachines netbook (same manufacturer, earlier model) and its been excellent too. Id pay the extra £20 for Win7.

Brun 01 January 2011 05:01 PM

Brun - shudders at Win7. It's change i tell you - i don't do change. I'm still finding new things on XP :D

Thank you for your help.

I bought a NC10 Plus from CostCo in the end and it seems good apart from it comes with Windows 7 Starter.

We have a couple of those and they are great. Not for creating spreadsheets, graphics or documents from scratch though. Even with Documents To Go it is too clunky and painful.

I'm yet to figure out what people see in Ipads. The screen gets covered in sticky finger prints virtue of no key board and when you wanna kick back on the sofa and surf the web how do you balence it on your knee?
Netbook all the way :p
