Classic - track tyres
Hi Guys - I'd be grateful for some recommendations please... I've got a classic and need to use 18s (in order to cover my brakes), but am pretty limited on tyre choices, as bigger than a 35 profile will scrub on heavy cornering... Hence am using 235 35 18s....
Anyone have any experience/recommendations of track tyres in this size? I use F1 Assymetrics for the road (awesome tyres - but reckon the old chevron gds 3s were better...) - but they wont last long on the track... and have been running around on cheapo's - which is CLEARLY the reason for my poor track performance... :) Would love to run 888s but they don't do a 35 profile... Has anyone with a GC8 had their arches rolled, and will that help - or does that show from the outside? Grateful for some advice... Many thanks! |
Dunlop or Avon do track tyres, not sure of the sizes though :(

The Avon is the ZZR and the Dunlop is the DZ03G, still not sure on the sizes :(

Got some of these for sale , proper rally moulded slicks , better than anything else you have tried , I used them on my classic rally car but the arches were rolled

Thanks guys - had a quick look earlier and they tend to only do 235 18 with a 40 profile...
Ian - are they road legal...? Need to travel to and from the tracks - (usually take a couple of spares in the boot - but can't fit 4!). When you had the arches rolled does it flare them out? - or do they look standard from the outside? Car's a P1 - so don't want to chop around the exterior too much! Thanks for input everyone. |
