REALLY USING FUEL

Now i know scooys use fuel i am not doughting this but i put £30 and have probe not done 100miles in it, what can cause this problem ppl

No smart jokes like heavy foot, ragging the **** out of it etc :nono:

eggy790 21 December 2010 03:45 PM

£30 to 100miles sounds normal in this weather/with it being used daily, stop and start etc,.. as a rule i normally get 35miles to £10 when driving it as a daily driver.

i get more when on motorway journeys or when i just go out on a continuous drive with no switch offs. normally around 42 miles local continuous and 48ish to £10 on motorway drives.

note. i dont have a lambda sensor lol so should be worse than a lot of people.

jura11 21 December 2010 03:47 PM

Hi Neil no CEL(Check engine light)? If no can you check lambda sensor,if is in good shape
I have similar problem with mine and mine lambda sensor has been knackered(180 miles on full tank) and after replacing lambda sensor i've get around 330miles from full tank.

NEILB1 21 December 2010 07:37 PM

How can I test this ?

I did get a cel light a few weeks ago on the motorway but nothing since.

Dougmy06wrx 21 December 2010 07:50 PM

Could have been a sign of something on the way out! You can check if there are any fault codes on the ecu. There are 2 connectors under the dash connect them and turn on the ignition watch how many times the cel light flashes. Those flashes correspond to codes.

That's just a rough guide by what I have read on other post. So hope that my info is right and it helps.

Dougmy06wrx 21 December 2010 08:27 PM

Sorry mate thought it might help.

Good luck

Turbo Tez 21 December 2010 08:38 PM

£30 for 100 miles is about what I get, I have a new lambda sensor fitted so it better not be down to that lol, Its always been the same so must just be what it does.

NEILB1 21 December 2010 08:41 PM

must be then,

Billet 21 December 2010 10:05 PM

£30 for a 100 miles is what i get too

prodriverules 21 December 2010 10:09 PM

^^Me to,wouldn't expect any more than that really unless really nanny goating the old girl along:D

kevin wrx 22 December 2010 11:03 AM

and what with the rise in petrol prices u are getting less fuel for your money

NEILB1 22 December 2010 11:13 AM

all very true points

ramdor 22 December 2010 11:13 AM

I am using 23.92 litres of fuel in 100 miles (about 19mpg)

£1.29 ish per litre = £30.86

Right on the money I would say.

SpecDscooby 22 December 2010 06:50 PM

Agreed, nothing more than that to be had, particularly in the cold......Jura...330 miles from a tank??.....jesus!!!;....you sure you have a turbo? :P

Yes matey is turbo, now fitted VF34,STi pink injectors and running really great, this mileage we are get from mixed driving(70% motorway and 30% city driving)....
If you have any doubt, just visit any good tuner and this tuner will check AFR or if you have OBD cable you can check via RomRaider and other sw,i will recommend this at first...

scoobywrxwagon 22 December 2010 07:42 PM

100 miles to £30 is bang on the money for your everyday driver or about town Id say motor way may see 115 -120 in mine. I put £20 in on sat and got 65 miles out of that so Id say no issues to worry about. £1.30 lt of v power means weve lost near 2lts for evey £20 you put in and that does add up I used to get 75 out of £20 not so long ago !! Petrol prices are gona be £2 lt by this time next yr if prices keep rising as they have done overr last 8 months.

joz8968 22 December 2010 11:23 PM

Assuming you put V-Power (or any other SUL 97+), then you're talking around £1.27 ave. odd per litre.

£30.00 divided by 1.27 = 23.6 litres.

23.6 divided by 4.546 = 5.2 gallons.

100m divided by 5.2 = 19.2mpg.

As said, prob. normal in this stop/start season/cold start ups i.e. more than average fuel cons.

Im curious about this, the problem is I dont know what these two connectors are or look like. How do you connect? Is this for a newage?

ian7675 26 February 2011 10:05 AM

Just for a small second I thought there might be hope that my car was using too much fuel and there was a solution. Turns out I'm getting good mileage compared to some. I filled up last week and got 270 miles out of it (with motorway driving).

greenfumb 26 February 2011 12:45 PM

i get around 35 around town 40-45ish on a long haul in my 93 wrx with a mix of fast and normal driving on tesco 99

I feel our green fingered (fumb - geddit?) friend is living in cloud cuckoo land. :cuckoo:

Mikez 26 February 2011 06:06 PM

the consumption does sound right but how you drive makes a huge difference. I once did hull to didcot on 2/3rds of a tank and used 1 1/2 tanks for the return journey.

My mistake not per gallon lol i meant out of £10 worth of tesco 99 fuel, i use £40 a week of that to and from work etc all in all around 150 miles a week and just got to clacton (65-70 miles) on £15 of crappy esso 97 @ 134.9 per litre driving normaly 77mph officer

joz8968 26 February 2011 11:39 PM

That's more like it. ;)

Yeah 150m from £40 of Tesco 99 (@ PetrolPrices.com today's ave. of c.137.1p) equates to about 23mpg - about the norm for mixed urban/suburban driving...

SRSport 26 February 2011 11:40 PM

:lol1:

so you dont live in a land full of cuckoos
