White classic on BBC news - in the snow

I was watching BBC news this morning - yet another report on drivers and the snow and how to drive etc. :o

The report showed a few examples of drivers slipping and sliding about not knowing how to control their cars in the snow & ice. Then to my surprise they pictured a white classic kicking its tail out around a corner (only momenterily).

But i thought to myself, 'that boy wasn't struggling....he's having some fun'. :thumb:

Come on...who was it? lol

What area?
I've spent most of this morning sideways.

Dan Clark 17 December 2010 10:23 AM

I didn't catch the area...i'll see if i can find the report :)

Was at about 8:30 this morning (probably repeated through out the day tho).

Martin 2010 17 December 2010 01:22 PM

Yeh that's what I thought, if I'm underdtearing and I let off then ill be side ways imagine a rwd letting off end up facing wrong way lol

Just had the first snow with any real depth here in South Wales
I'd rather take my time on the public roads dealing with a little twitch here and there is fine but the local industrial estate car parks are awesome fun and no chance of wiping anyone else out.
I finished work early today and had to stop on the way home for a play
Great fun
Besides when I 360'd the bug outside the house ( empty street with no cars )...the wife freaked out, then freaked out a little more while I was laughing at her and doing it again.

L.J.F 17 December 2010 05:51 PM

yeah women tend to do that:D

scixer6r 17 December 2010 09:02 PM

Oh yeah another tw*t thinking he can drive in the snow & ice,but really hasnt got a clue.:cuckoo:

Jimbob 17 December 2010 09:12 PM

The expert was a weiner, I mean taking your foot off the gas when your sliding on thick Ice is gonna do f-all. That whole tv piece was crap.

Would have been better off showing people correct following distances, and appropriate speeds for conditions, as its plainly obvious to me most people have no clue what so ever.

Dan Clark 17 December 2010 10:06 PM

Totally agree.

The tv piece is utter toss...its all well and good taking your foot off the acelerator when your driving around in a circle, nothing to hit and in plenty of space.

I was more interested to see an impreza on BBC news. lol

arumdevil 18 December 2010 03:59 AM

oh my god what an absolutely useless **** that 'expert' was. His tips were maybe vaguely useful for wet weather as advice to a new driver, that's about it.

DannyM 18 December 2010 11:35 AM

"hold the wheel at 10 and 2 position"

"ok sure, this gives better feel for the grip?"

"yes"

next clip

"see how much better you control the slide with your hands at 8 and 9 on the wheel?"

no wait...he didn't say that did he? nice tuition skill, Ben.

millsy3 18 December 2010 12:17 PM

mmmm how can you prove your an expert driver in the snow, WHEN THERES NO SNOW hahahah :wonder:

Skid pan would have been better

millsy3 18 December 2010 01:46 PM

yeah it made me laugh, its like teaching someone to ski on tarmac.

dunx 18 December 2010 07:40 PM

Have you seen the number of "I've bent a wheel \ suspension, threads on here ?

Some people need some guidance, even if it is only - don't do it on £300 rims wearing £200 tyres...

Dunx - i like the ones that mention they've hit a kerb/another car, then complain about idiots on the road a few posts later.

Maybe. Seen lots of accidents on the road, so assume lots of claims will be coming in.

Hopefully it'll be the 4x4's that get hit, as round this way they are all driving like twats*

* my dad excluded of course, in his 4x4!!!
