DBM Bug Winter Rebuild - Again
The car was subject to a small power hike earlier this year thanks to FB Tuning, and has been developing over the last five years since I bought it, so she was looking okay albeit a little road-scarred until about 8-weeks ago...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC01784.jpg So in 2010 the following mods where done: FMIC: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC01521.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC01524.jpg Interior including a flocked dash: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC02830.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC01952.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC01515.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC02013.jpg But then disaster struck and I hit a wild deer whilst up in Lincolnshire:( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1865.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1864.jpg So time to take it to the next level:D |
doesn't look like too much damage really........
any excuse to spend a bit tho eh!! ;) |
Step one was to find a replacement bonnet:thumb:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC03424.jpg And then time to start making some changes to the bumper:D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC03727.jpg I did consider a cold air duct, but that is now sat in the garage:? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC03721.jpg Sideskirts are nearly flatted ready for the respray, but next job is.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1872.jpg Also on the cards is; TGV delete including a resprayed inlet manifold, spray up the intercooler pipework, fit an earthing kit, tidy up the interior (need some switch blanks) and fitted a starter button. Also I need to decide between these 2:? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT Once it is all together I'm hoping to get a special DBM mix made up just to finish it off nicely. More updates as time goes by:thumb: |
Nice one Jon..... will look forward to be seeing the developments on her mate :D

Okay, late start on a Monday morning so I've got stuck in...
First, I picked up some JDM tinted rear door glass which I fitted a couple of weeks ago. Seen a matching RA rear screen, but it is up in Lanarkshire and the guy won't post it:mad: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1937.jpg Finished rubbing down the sideskirts, the underside isn't brill, but then again that part won't be seen and it's a driver not a trailer queen:D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1938.jpg Also started on the rear bumper:thumb:. I think I'll leave the bulk of the prep to the bodyshop as my hands are in bits:cry: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1939.jpg Next up is get some tiger seal and smooth the joins on the sideskirt and rear bumper spats and also blend the orciari bumper vents in. Also need to get some more mesh to cover the intercooler opening:cool: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1941.jpg |
Looking good Jon, looking forward to our vent fitting session in the next few weeks, should be interesting :thumb::thumb:

Also managed to sort the rear screen, a bloke in work lives 20 minutes away so a nice RA tinted rear screen is on the way:thumb: |

Will be whipping the bumpers off next week to do some bits and pieces so, weather permitting, probably plan it the week between Christmas and New Year:D
|
There is still no sign of my baby making an appearance yet so should be off then will let you know mate :thumb:

 will keep that in mind for a last resort ;)
|
nice update mate ;) Gonna try to get the vent sprayed later this week. Keep ya posted ;)

Been doing some bits and pieces, flatted the roof vent, removed and cleaned the mud flaps and prepped the inlet manifold for painting, just waiting for a mate to weld up the TGV holes before I paint it and then I'll make some insulating spacers from Carp Tufnol.
I'm planning a good tidy up under the bonnet as well. I'm thinking about red for inlet, black for all the intercooler pipes and also a tidy up of things like the header tank as well as removal of the A/C. Started with some stainless bolts from the GB today - it's 'kin cold though:eek: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1947.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1946.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1945.jpg |
Black pipes will look far better but I think you should make the inlet the same colour as your having the car sprayed :0) Will flow better with the silicone hoses etc.

My grounding kit and some other little bits are red to go under the bonnet, and I have some red VHT paint sat in the garage so red it will be. I'm hoping to get it done and ready to fit before the respray:thumb:

Regarding the spoiler choice.... neither! Lol. Hate those spoilers with a passion and it'll ruin the look of your car IMO, they just look so wrong on a scoob.
Car looks great in the 1st pic, I'd keep the spoiler as it is. |

Got hold of a set of stainless bolts from the recent GB - there is some differences between newage and classic, but I have been able to use at least half so far before my fingers froze:(
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1947.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1946.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSCF1945.jpg Just need to get the aircon out. As for the header tank, I believe you can't get a replacement gasket, but does anyone know if they are paper or cork - I have a couple of rolls of gasket paper so I could make a replacement when I refurb it:D |
looking nice jon
|
working in the snow :thumb: keen. saying that i had mine on stands yesterday reattatching the splitter lol
|
Centre console out tomorrow to get it ready for flocking:D
I'm banned from doing anything dangerous after lopping the top of my finger off - probably should have gone to A&E for a stitch or 2 but couldn't be bothered, it's stopped bleeding and has sort of lined back up:eek: |
