4 years on - Should I change any bushes.
I have tried asking in the suspension forum but not getting very far. My car is going in to the garage on Friday and have the opportunity to have other things done f I wish for a decent rate.
Am I right in thinking that changing the bushes are a cheap way to help restore the handling to what it was when new. My car is 4 years old and done 22k miles, I dont notice or think there is anything wrong with the handling but not having it from new I dont know if it Im missing anything. Is it worth it? |
TBH, I wouldn't have thought that the bushes would have deteriorated in 22k miles. I suppose you could have harder ones fitted, or solid droplinks if it hasn't got tyhem, but as for "restoring the handling", I seriously doubt it.

Lol, 6 minutes that took for piece of mind rather than 3 days in the other forum. Thanks for that.

Just out of interest how do you find the ride?
I have had a standard Hawkeye 07 WRX for 6 months now. It has done 21k miles and to be honest I find the ride a bit 'hard & bouncy'. Is this normal as I have never driven or been in another Scooby. I did read on another post that new stiffer lowering springs can cure the bouncy ride so was considering a set of Prodrive springs (the same that could be fitted as an option reducing the ride height by approx 25mm) but dont want to waste my money? |
I couldnt say as a comparison. My previous car was a Ford Cougar which was very hard and crashy. The impreza is a dream compared. However that doesnt mean that it is any different to yours as you may have had a Mercedes before.
By the way where do you go to get yours serviced? |
all this talk of bushes and rides. We are talking about subarus here and not your gf/wife ;)
