That Turbo XS one looks strangely similar to my Japspeed one:wonder:

My large topmount was a Turbo XS one and I can vouch that they are good value:thumb:

I'm not sure but Japspeed FMIC are exactly copy of TurboXS or TurboXS is copy of Japseed:wonder:

DisoDisp 08 December 2010 10:22 PM

Japspeed/Txs/Grimmspeed/CRx all seem to be the same ebay special rebranded.

coleman 09 December 2010 05:48 PM

What about hte aztec performance one?
For £194 it can't really be sniffed at!

harvey, the hybrid has earnt a very good reputation for good quality and having a good core that actually works, if it wasnt for the fact it has a pipe run that goes under the engine i would order 1 right now, is there anyway hybrid would change this for top of engine run?

Hi matey Hybrid(HDi) intercoolers are best for money at moment are proven many people/tuners,downsize is just under car pipe...
If you want prevent damage the pipe which going under car,you may have look for skid plate/sump guard(from US cost around 150$ and arrive to you around 2 weeks or from UK for 350£)

harvey 10 December 2010 08:10 AM

There will be NO pipe damage if the pipework is fitted properly and it will not be the lowest part on the car.
There is actually no need for alternative pipework if it is installed correctly.

When making the installation there is a stableizer bar held in by two bolts which will be stopping the pipe from sitting higher. Undo these. Knock the bolts out and put
them back upside down so they face up over with the nuts on the top rather than facing the bottom. The pipework when installed properly does not sit down below the bed level as those that have had the installation done by ourselves can confirm.

That said I prefer the previous pipe run which was all on top but that was changed to avoid the need to fit a shorter but wider battery.

If anyone actually needs a replacement pipe because they have destroyed theirs I keep two of these in stock but in the years I have been selling/fitting the kits I can only remember supplying two spares so this issue appears to be very over done. I am already in touch with the manufacturer on this but if anyone has this problem and wants it put right for them, bring the car to Darlington and we will alter the pipework as outlined above.

do i get to keep the driving light?how hard to fit it and do u have the installation instruction can send to me ? thankis

When you run with the hybrid fmic I take it you have to run without the engine cover ?
Is this the same with the Japspeed fmic ?

My HDi kit is no lower than the rest of the car, will try and get a pic up when the weather improves.

It was also doing such a good job when getting it mapped Duncan thought it had V-Power in it, nope just Total 95RON unleaded.

it was doing a great job - the hybrid core works really well and although there are those that say the std sti tmic is good for 400bhp, they do not seem to appreciate that you would get an instant power increase by fitting the kit at whatever power level.

nickscooby 16 December 2010 08:01 PM

just had my car remapped after fitting Japspeed fmic and increased by 20.8bhp!!!!

a decent bit of kit? i'd say so!!! :^)

What car was that on?

nickscooby 16 December 2010 09:06 PM

Sorry a 99 uk turbo.

ECUTek Remap
japspeed decat exhaust and FMIC
k&n ind kit

and a knackered TD04 that wont boost any higher than 1bar no matter what is tried. :)

Scooby Arthur 17 December 2010 03:31 PM

Nice results there nickscooby.

Let me know if you want another TD04, got one form my Hawkeye.

nickscooby 17 December 2010 06:16 PM

cheers buddy but looking for a vf24/28/35.

jura11 17 December 2010 06:47 PM

From last dyno(TD04L boost 1.3 bar,FMIC and Slowboy racing remap) i manage 275BHP(on fail safe map,due failing O2 sensor) and after replacing O2 sensor i make 285BHP.
Now with VF34 and STi pinks,2.1 stroker(which will be built in January) i hope for 350BHP.
On TD04 is pointless fitting the FMIC(i know from mine experience,no power add on or more BHP),for TD04 is good TMIC...

birchy2010 17 December 2010 07:47 PM

What dump valves are you running with the Japspeed kits? I've got one but need to order a valve. Also where did you get the few extra bits needed to fit it?

JonMc 17 December 2010 07:50 PM

I have a turbosmart megasonic and all I needed was a length of silicon hose that reduced from 31mm to 25mm and a couple of jubliee clips.

I've put my name down for one of these japspeed fmic. I hope it will handle the 450bhp I want to achieve????

Mine happily made 440hp.

marcevs72 06 October 2011 07:21 PM

just a quick question but in the test on the link they never remapped the car for the front mount??? i thought they go bang if you dont remap?

scooby-tuna 06 October 2011 07:37 PM

Anyone heard of a toyosports fmic are they any good? as i have one and a japspeed for my classic, might fit the toyosports and sell the japspeed if i have any good offers.

craigyp 06 October 2011 07:40 PM

Well to be fair they claim they can take up to 600 so I suppose 450 is easy for it!

scooby-tuna 08 October 2011 05:41 PM

I think you would def need a remap or wud run too lean

harvey 09 October 2011 01:53 PM

A front mount intercooler is not only fitted to reduce air charge temperatures.
If you want to do the job properly you have to look at the overall specification and the actual need for a front mount in the first place.
The purpose of the front mount is to reduce air charge temperatures but this has to be done in conjunction with efficiency and low boost pressure losses across the core.
One particular vendor on here lifted the Hybrid/HDi FMIC advertising claims and photo from the HDi website and represented it as their own which was complete bollocks.
That advertising has now been removed.
If you are purchasing an FMIC and want an efficient system that will outperform installations costing three times as much speak to someone that is a specialist in this area and decide for yourself the veracity of the information provided.

blackhawk56 09 October 2011 06:03 PM

got the japspeed fmic on my hawk sti and it runs 450/450 no problem at all great peice of kit for the money
