Can anyone help a brother?

Hi.
Can someone help me out on this please?
I took my car (05 WRX) for its MOT today, it only failed on a rear seat belt not locking into place properly but when i got back the bloke said he cant get it to start!!!
I've never had 1 single fault with this car ever! The thing was it wouldnt even turn over so in the end he bump started it and told me to keep the engine running for a bit, this was just to get rid of me as they closed 10 mins later. As soon as i turn the engine off it wont start again or even turn over.
The car wont lock with the key anymore either so do you think it could just be the imobiliser?
Proper gutted that i take a perfectly immaculate car in and now left with a car that wont start!
Could he have dissconnected something and when re connected the car thinks its being stolen?
Looks like i'm walking to work until i get it sorted so any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Jay

Sounds like a fcuked battery mate. This weather weeds out the ****e batterys. When you switch it off can you see the red alarm led flash..

arumdevil 06 December 2010 07:18 PM

yep low battery. IF they are too low you will often still get dash lights etc but not even an attempt to start. sometimes you will get relays clicking off like mad too.

+1 More than likely the battery,

Did they accidently press the daytime running lights switch on top of the steering wheel and forget to turn it off, Wouldn1t be the 1st time?

Mine wouldn`t start the other day, Been sat for 5 days in minus temps not used and went to start it and flat as.....

Ok cheers lads, i will get a new battery first thing. Was just paranoid it was something more serious and was thinking the imobiliser had to be reset or something.
Must just be pure coincidence that the battery goes while its on the ramp!
Thanks again for all your help
Have a good un :luxhello::luxhello::luxhello:

At the risk of sounding even more dumb.....are you talking about the car battery or could i just replace the key fob battery?
Cheers

The car battery mate,it sounds like it has dropped a cell, when the engineis bump started it is running off the power generated by the alternator .
Get yourself a new battery and im sure it will be fine:thumb:

i would have thought its just battery. they probly left the lights on or summot.
the cold weather has finished the battery off.
make sure the battery terminals are tight.

id be getting my self a volt meter out, jump/bump starting the car then while its running reading the voltage going to the battery? could be the alternator at fault?
think you want a reading of around 13.8v-14.3v, if thats all good then i would go battery ;)

Sounds like you could have a problem with the starter motor as the car will bump start but will not start with a new battery.
The problem with the central locking could be a seperate issue perhaps as simple as a new battery for the fob.

Cheers,
Mouser.

Two things here.

1. Did it pass the MOT?

2. Have you asked the garage why they returned a fooked car?

It failed whilst in their care, they should be fixing it. If it got there OK why after they had it is it not.

You never had issues before the MOT did you?

deanb1980 09 December 2010 04:18 PM

on another note the rear seat belt wasnt the passenger side one was it

Ding Dong Silver 21 December 2010 03:54 PM

I managed to get it sorted. Turns out the drongos at ATS killed my battery and and doing so the key needed to be reset so i was £130 out of pockets cos they are just so useless! As for the seatbelt it turned out he was trying to put it in the wrong slot (havent we all) so it wasnt even a fail. These guys are an absolute joke so if anyone is thinking of their car to ATS i wouldnt bother, i wouldnt even let them change a tyre.

local ATS place closed down over a year ago. they were muppets.
