2.1 Stroker for a JDM/Spec C

Hey...

Has anyone fitted a 2.1 stroker to a JDM/Spec C running a Litchfield turbo?

What would be the advantages of a 2.1 over a 2.0 running say an LM400?

Hi mate
From what I have seen on different turbos.
2.1 stroker adds torque strength lower spool up on turbo so more drivable on the road.
I have sc46 and I'm after a 2.1 next year

I have the LM420 on my Spec C, if I was to get a 2.1 stroker conversion I would look at changing the turbo as well to something like the MD321V because I think he 2.1 with the extra torque can utilise the potential of the V where as I think it would very laggy on the 2.0L?

Im not sure I would want to go from a Litchfields LM420 turbo, which is the latest development of twin scroll turbo engineering, to just another MD321V. I dont think its a step forwards & would detract from the essence of a twin scrolled Spec C. But thats just my thoughts, call me a JDM purist! lol

Yeh I agree the new LM turbos have only just been developed and already have new bits to add on.

What I don't understand is why you are asking about a 2.1 you only just got the car and I doubt you've managed 1500 miles in her and your already thinking of a 2.1 :D

:lol1: Just asking ;) No harm in that :) So far it's covered 2670 trouble free miles :)

Funnily enough Richard Bulmer agrees with you, but I am falling in to the trap of wanting alot more which is why I have considered a 2.1 :D well happy with the LM420 for now :thumb:

Potentially more torque and quicker spool. Not worth the expense unless you are intending in going for a much bigger turbo imo. Then the wallet busting comes in to effect..... I would question for what reason though. :)

Been thinking about this one again recently, on a twin scroll car with a 2.1L stroker kit fitted what would be the ideal turbo :wonder: I was just thinking if the 2.1L provides the extra torque in comparrison to the 2.0L would the twin scroll LM500 be an ideal candidate or is this going slightly too large (when aiming a strong bottom end pulling from low down)

I know there is also the LM450 & the LM470 as well. I believe since this thread start way back that the LM500 is now available in billet form?

Anyone on any thoughts on the ideal turbo for a JDM 2.1L?

Lee.

£££££££££££ would love to but it would appear to be big bucks, I/we are lucky to have the 06 Spec C, I think these engines stroked are hugely capable of making good numbers without needing the expense of going 2.35. I am guessing the twin scroll set up may make up for the missing 200cc's?

I am also guessing that an LM500 may be good for 520/530hp? my present set up really is awesome, but after entering TA in April its left me feeling just a tad more hp and I will be quick enough to chase the lads at the front, another 80hp and a lot more torque would help alot and still be great on the road I reckon :norty:

Yep the 2.35 isn't the cheap option. I agree that you should get good numbers from a stroker kit which would cost alot less than a built 2.35.
