Small double glazed windows locked shut

Had this on two , well actually three now , whereby the handle clicks round ( as does a screwdriver ) clearly not engaging the ratchet system to move the mushrooms

what is a proffesional going to do , prize the whole window out the framework thus damaging it ? ? ?

Nah, locksmiths have various special tools and skills.

Had exactly the same on one of mine and the locksmith had it sorted in a jiffy.

Common problem with the average quality locks fitted to most double glaziong.

Really . i cant for the life of me see how it would be possible ...

Take the handle off, remove beads, take sealed unit out and drill hole through plastic frame to reveal back of lock mechanism then use a flat blade screwdriver to manually pull/push the espag rail from the back.

Can be fiddly but it works and no damage to the window visible

The real art is getting a suitable replacement !! i have to use several suppliers and then often have to modify/adapt to get the desired result
