Opinions on spacers
Ok, just want to know what peoples opinions are on spacers? Are they safe for road use? Are the safe for track use?
Considering a widebody (instead of a new car), but not sure on the spacers concept. Would prefer to get the correct wheels, but might they might not come immediately... Car will be weekend track car, 400bhp, etc... |
Buy the proper ones that bolt onto the hub and then the wheel bolts to the spacer, dont buy the cheap sh1te ones that just slide over the wheel studs.
The ones that bolt to the hub are a bit dearer than the ones that just go over the wheel studs, but remember if you just buy the cheap ones that slide over the studs you will need to buy longer studs aswell to accomodate the width of the spacer so it works better to go for the bolt on ones straight away... |
As f4la_k said, hubcentric spacers are perfectly ok. Universal spacers require longer studs which therefore take more strain, making them less safe.
|
The hubcentric ones are the only ones I would consider, but I would only consider them a temporary solution until I get the appropriate sized wheels.
|
as above the hubcentric spacers or longer competition studs and shim spacers, but getting the right wheel is the ideal option.
