Battery issue.

Afternoon :-)

Got in my car this morning, I left it outside overnight, and whilst it started fine, the battery sounded like it needs a bit of a charge.

So, with this in mind, am I going to cause myself any problems by disconnecting the battery, taking it out and charging it? Will the car ask for loads of codes before it will start, once the battery is replaced? Or, will what I'm doing reset the ECU or anything like that? Quite frankly, I couldnt care less if the stereo asks for a code, as I never listen to it anyway...

Its an 05 Blob STi.

Thanks a lot!

I had same problem last week. Left it two days and was flat. So charged it up overnight and spins over loads better now than before. Had no problems with codes or anything only clock wrong time.

I changed my battery a while back, you can tell when it's going because the alarm beeps when you turn the car over.
I took the old one off and put a new one on without any probs but it's probably wise to have the immobiliser codes handy just in case. :)

As long as you have disarmed the alarm prior to disconnecting the battery, there should be no issues apart from stereo code, and resetting clock!

Cold weather kills dying batteries..... FAST!
I would say your battery is on its way out tbh.

Tony:)

Hi all, thanks for the fast replies! I'm not going to do it now, I'll do it tomorrow when its a bit warmer and I can leave it charge for 12 hours or so...

I'm hoping the battery isn't on its way out, its only 6 months or so old! Of course, if it IS knackered, it'll be under guarantee at least!
