change the oil at 500 then 1000

It is best practice to do that IMO

Yes, I'd use the CRO up to 1000 miles.

The joys of running an engine in, try and buy enough for a couple of changes at it will be a bit cheaper buying it in bulk as you know your goin to need it..

Is it a brand new engine or a rebuild? If a rebuild what was done?

we sent a 2ltr block of to alan jefry and came back as a 2.2 fully forged

In that case I would start off following Millers recommendations for the use of the running in oil.
  • Suitable for 5 hours test bed running or 500mls/800km on road.
  • Optimum oil temperature 85-115oC.
  • Very low leak down [4%] after controlled test bed running.
Cheers

stef - apeak to alan at engine tuner and ask him. After all it is them that provide the warranty and if you dont follow their instructions then there is potential for them to query any issues...
