Lithium Ion AA size rechargeable batteries.
 

I have 8 of these for my off-camera flash and wanted another 4 for my lad's X-box controller.
However, I am now having difficulty sourcing any. Duracell, whose I bought last year, say they no longer make any........

Anyone know why? And who DOES do them now?

Didn't think they were legitimately sold on the retail market as they don't have the protection circuitry required to stop them exploding when a fault develops.

This is why nearly all Li-ion cells come in preformed battery packs, which have built in protection circuitry and connectors that will only work with approved chargers. The only times I've seen Li-ion in individual cell form is for industrial use or custom R/C cars/planes. And then, they are often in cock-eyes sizes.

Unless you meant Lithium Manganese (Energizer Lithium etc)...those you can get off the shelf but they aren't rechargeable. Whilst they are often branded "Lithium" they aren't Lithium-ion.

My advice would be get the xbox 360 rechargeable battery pack.it comes with a lead to plug in the xbox as it will charge it whilst playing. They're about £10-£15

Last effin' ages if you don't use them. Had to get some for my Canon camera as the circuitry would complain that the batterys were flat with normal Li rechargeables. These mimic *normal* disposable ones from that standpoint.

The link is just the first one I saw. You can get them cheaper if you search more.

Are you absolutely sure they are Li-Ion, all the Li-Ion cells I've ever come across are 3.6 / 3.7v. AAs are 1.5v. :confused:

I would have thought your AAs would either be Ni-MH (good) or Ni-Cd (rubbish). Either way I would go for Ni-MH for what you want, far safer for the reason mentioned. Li-Ion can also explode if you over discharge them as well as over charge them :eek:
