Audio issue
 

Hey guys

I have an impreza and the in car audio was lacking some.

First I fitted an amp/sub to my car.

A Vibez package kit (800w sub and amp) This worked fine for a few months, however I then upgraded the front speakers in my doors as they were poor. Installed a pair of Infinity 6532i 6.5 All good for a few weeks, but then my sub became distorded and sounded like it was underwater, when cranked up. And when on low volume hardly any output from the sub. When the volume was up the front speakers also cut out every other second.

I thought.... hmmmm is my amp or sub knackered. So I got another sub and connected it to the output from the amp and the same underwater sound happened. So I concluded that the amp was broken.

I buy a new amp to replace my faulty one, and low and behold - the same issue. The sub I have now tested in a friends car - and that works fine.

I can only conclude that the power drain from the front speakers (no amp - they are connected directly to my head unit) is causing too much of a drain on the built in amp combined with the amp/sub!

I have a Pioneer DEH-5000 headunit.

Could this be the case? And would fitting a dedicated amp for the front speakers fix the issue?

Could it be my alternator? Need an upgrade?
