oem injectors enough for a vf35?

Hi everyone

Im enquiring for a friend of mine who is getting a vf35 for a classic sti v4. Would an adjustable fuel reg and standard 440cc injectors be enough for a vf35 with supporting mods?? he is going to run 1.6 bar is that boost okay or whats the max boost they can take?

Thanks

Mark

Yeah the 440's should be fine but would defo need the fuel regulator changing just don't buy a cheap Ebay special as they seem to have a lot of SARD fakes about

What power are you aiming for, as you will max the 440s @ about 340bhp even with an adjustable FPR.

He is hoping to get 340-350bhp, he has 740cc injectors thats are not fitted but they are too high cc for around 350bhp?

tosh,,, lol :p

all joking aside im running 340bhp on 440's, standard FPR and have plenty of head room on them :thumb:

o p.s. standrd uk turbo 2.0 engine

Would stick with the 440s and get what you can out of them :)

Maxxed my 440s when I had the vf23 on the car and was at most running 330bhp

MarkC 25 November 2010 12:48 PM

What turbo do you have and what boost is it at, Tidgy?

Thanks for the reply Banny

oops thought i put that, my bad, vf34, hang on i'll dig out graphs (why did i put that in a post im still writing?), pretty sure its not as high as 1.6 though. indeed about 1.4 by the eye

As said, keep your 440s... but add a decent adj. FPR (Fuelab all the way!) prior to mapping.

That way the base pressure can be upped a tad if needed, and you should get to the 340bhp odd (assuming everything else is okay etc,)

Just one question for my own setup, would 550cc injectors and adjustable fuel reg be enough for a td05-18g hybrid?

joz8968 26 November 2010 01:58 PM

Easy.

550s with an adj FPR should be good for a min of 390bhp. 18g is good for 340-380; with 350-360 being a typical figure...

KAS35RSTI 26 November 2010 02:35 PM

I made 326hp on my VF23 with 440's & it still had 25% headroom.

Thanks for the replys

whats the max boost the standard dump valve can take? Can it handle 1.6-1.7 bar? I hope to keep the original one, car is a version 4 sti.

joz8968 27 November 2010 11:01 AM

Theoretically, any boost level, as it's in equilibrium when on boost (it's why it remains closed).

It's mainly its construction that could be a problem e.g.the fact that it's plastic, etc.

But, also, its physical size could be a problem - dependent on power level and therefore volume of air being forced through it when it opens, etc. But were talking high really high power here...

Would it be best to get a forge recirc one?

joz8968 27 November 2010 11:09 AM

I would, personally.

All metal, decent diaphragm/springs etc. You won't leave anything to chance with one of those... ;)

Thanks Joz

A VERY knowledgeable chap up here was running 390bhp on an AF 20G on 440's....they are plenty for a VF35....

New_scooby_04 27 November 2010 11:45 PM

440s should be just about enough for a VF35 (although I had 550s): 35s usually max out at around 340ish bhp, this can be achieved at 1.4 bar (well it was on my UK MY99).

They will take running without a DV, but wouldn't suggest doing that on a car running a maf based ECU.

Martin 2010 28 November 2010 12:07 AM

im using vf35 with 550cc and not at 100% but other things like airflow sensor started to max out and i got just under 330 im sure that 440s wud of done the same but been running flat out at 100% on a uk 2ltr turbo
