hi was wondering if any one has had trouble with there alarm as mine keeps going off for no reason also tried locking myself in and making movement but nothing so am now worried it might be knakerd :confused:

what brand of allarm is it?

Like everything in life, it needs servicing occasionally ;)
Go to your local alarm speciallist, see what they can do, it may just need some recalibrating or cleaning up (sensors), and probably wont cost you that much to sort out.

If it's a Subaru UK fit Sigma M30/S30 alarm, you can use the keypad to find out which sensor circuit caused the last trigger (i.e. whether it was the boot/bonnet/door switches, or the ultrasonic sensors). This takes a hell of a lot of time and effort out of fixing it. Chances are it'll be a dirty/worn bonnet switch but once you use the procedure above, no guesswork is necessary.

To do this, type exactly what I've written on the next line in via the pad.

The dash LED will then flash. The number of flashes denotes the circuit causing the last activation of the alarm:

1: Ignition
2: Doors
4: Boot
8: Bonnet
16:Ultrasonic

When you arm the alarm, it goes through a settle period (either 30 or 60 seconds, if I remember right) where it will calibrate the ultrasonic sensitivity according to the amount of movement in the car.

As such, if you set the alarm and immediately start waving your arms around, the alarm won't activate because it is still within the settle period. If you carried on waving your arms around for and beyond the entire settle period, the alarm won't activate because the sensitivity will have been reduced to more or less zero as a result of your constant movement.

If you want to test the ultrasonics, set the alarm and sit stock still until you see the LED flash frequency change. Then move and see what happens.

I had the same problem and we think we've solved it with a new battery.
Is there any way to disable the whole thing?

it came standard with the car so i guess its the sigma as mine is a 02 bug, thanks for the info shall give what you said ago and see if i can somehow sort it out :thumb:
