Stoneclough Salvage - Bolton - THIEVES - SCAMMERS

A friend of mine appears to have been ripped off. Scammed.

And looking on Google proves that he is not the only one!

The salvage company is callings itself

Stoneclough Salvage

DO NOT under any circumstances deal with these people.

They will tell you that they have the part you require in stock, in my friends case it was an engine for a VW Golf, which he paid just under £1,000 for to include delivery.

Firstly they say that the engine has been packed and shipped, only it does not turn up after a few days, supposed to be next day delivery.

My friend called them to find out where the engine is and they say it has been delivered. Delivered to where? The Moon? Because it certainly has not been delivered to where it was supposed to be delivered.

This goes on for a few days. My friend asks for proof that the engine was shipped and with which courier, to which Stoneclough Salvage say that there is no tracking details for the engine, but it has certainly been sent to the address provided, which happens to be a garage where the golf is waiting to have the engine fitted.

My friend waits a few more days but nothing turns up. So he requests a full refund as he wants to get his car back on the road and not want to wait forever for this engine to turn up.

The company Stoneclough Salvage promise a refund will be made to the card used for the purchase of the engine within a few days.

Well you guessed, a week passes and no refund, nothing heard from them and now calls to the number of the company Stoneclough Salvage cannot be made as the nice voice of the BT lady kindly informs us that this telephone number does not accept incoming calls. Handy, very handy.

So its been over a month since my friend has paid just under £1000 to this company Stoneclough Salvage.

Luckily for him he used his credit card for the purchase, so he is protected, I bet others have not bee as fortunate.

We are in the process of helping the Police regarding this matter. Who have advised us to warn others as they are aware of a problem with the company ripping people of.

They are scam artists.

Do not deal with this company.

yes I agree a little PM to let you know why your post had been made 'invisible' would have been helpful.

lol, its all in the process of being sorted.

Just need to look on Google to see that my friend is not the only one who is being scammed by these fools.

arumdevil 22 November 2010 05:39 PM

I know mate, I actually wrote a reply to that but before I posted it the thread was locked. hey ho.

kevaldo 22 November 2010 05:42 PM

Its not to far from me that place you want me to have a run up to that place?

DoZZa 22 November 2010 05:48 PM

Go for it mate, the 52 Market Street address is the registered address, looking on Google Street View shows that it is some sort of trading address, but not where these people actually appear to be located.

They seem to be located at Fishbrook Industrial Estate, but there is no available street view there.

kevaldo 22 November 2010 05:52 PM

Yeah I'll speak to my buddy he knows bolton well as he use to work there, I'll have a fly up and let u know what i find in the next few days, actually i can go there tomorrow because i'm going manchester snowboarding.

DoZZa 22 November 2010 05:56 PM

It seems that the address at the Fishbrook Industrial Estate is also fake.

There is another company that is operting from there, and they appear to be legit.

So I doubt that there would be anybody from Stoneclough Salvage to be found at the Unit 5C Fishbrook Industrial Estate address.

kevaldo 22 November 2010 05:57 PM

What about the house then?

That is there registered trading address, but looking on companies house records, it seems that there are several companies registered to that address.

If your passing take a look, but I wouldnt go out of your way, these people obviously know what they are doing and nobody will find anything.

Its a pity people dont do a bit of research into these unknown places until after the event.
Or better still deal with places with a good reputation or on recommendation.

Thats what happened with my friend, he put a request in for an engine via find a part.

I have sent an email to find a part about this company but I have not had a response.

thats just a couple we've heard above and its well over 1k. Imagine how many others there might be on the VW, BMW, Ford websites etc...... could be a crazy amount theyve scammed. Especially if theyre registered with find-a-part

gojonnyjo 27 November 2010 12:49 AM

to sell on e-bay they need to have a bank account / credit card, so they must have a confirmed address

gojonnyjo 27 November 2010 12:52 AM

Evening all I was contacted by Stoneclough Salavage for a engine that I required a Pajero 2800 cc, I paid by card, promised the engine, did not arrive after a couple of weeks asked for a refund, kept getting the run around, I went onto your website and got your address gave it to the bank and finaly got my money back, the bank said that it was fraud so I presume that they are chasing up the company.

Is it just me or is it odd that when a member posts about some company that has done them some injustice on here, an army of newbs appear out of the woodwork (sometimes with a first post) to gripe about their own similar injustices :wonder:

arumdevil 14 December 2010 11:07 PM

no not that odd really if you think about it. Some others have obviously been ripped off by the same company and have searched on google, ended up at this thread and then posted their experience to corroborate the OPs experience. Makes perfect sense really :)

the majority of posts on here are probably gripes or moanings, or people seeking help for problems, that tends to be what brings people to forums like this in the first place.
