not ticking over smoothly

bit of advice needed,most of the time my car runs fine but sometimes when i stop it ticks over lumpy revs rise up and down?its not a vacumn pipe off because it doesnt do it all the time one minute its fine the next its not and vice versa:confused:

Try giving the idle control valve a clean with some brake cleaner

I have the same problem, turned out to be my maf....

i had this when i first got my classic, i cleaned icv, vacuum pipes and swapped MAF. been spot on since

have got z32 maf fitted,is there any way of testing the maf
