Closed Deck Engine ?

Is it possible to tell without removing the heads if a car has a closed deck block ? The car is a V2 Sti with engine code EJ20G DW5PE are there any markings on the engine anywhere to confirm if it is or is not. Thanks

cross hatching being the crank position sensor and cross hatching on the oil filter mounting.

closed deck were pre 94 i think. do a serach, i think the only way to tell is for cross hatchings on a particular part of the block.

crosshatching on the block at the front just under the alternator and to the left a bit, and there should also be some cast lines on the starter motor bell passenger side rear of engine and yes as far as i am aware they were pre 94 engines, mainly found in legacy's, thats where i got my block from.

If it is a genuine V2 STI engine and it has red paint on the manifold, albeit flaking off, it won't have a closed deck block.
