I have a 1995 WRX RA JDM import and I want to convert it back to km/h. How can I do it?

If the converter is not at the speedo end it might be at the gearbox end. Look at the right side of the turbo for a cable with a black box attached to it & a orange sheath going into the gearbox. Simply pull it out andreplace with a STD cable . :thumb: |
I dissasembled everything and there is no converter on the line...
The auge cluster itself doesn't have any device beind it. On the front there is a MPH sticker. So how was the conversion(if it was) done? |
Do you have access to a satnav with roadspeed measurement on it? If so, use that to check that the speedo is actually reading in MPH! It could be it's actually reading in the std KM/H (the converter could well have been removed - as your anecdotal evidence seems to suggest!). If this is the case, then you just need to remove the MPH sticker...

What is the top speed on you clock face?
0mph to 120mph or 0mph to 180mph, I have the 0mph to 120mph clock on mine, 0mph to 120mph on the outside of the clock face 0kph to 180kph on the inside of the clock face, which is strange because mine is a import should be kph on out side and mph on inside so with my car im guessing it hasnt got a converter on it so its still reading in kph but the clock face has just been switched around could that be the case with your car? |
Ah yes.
As above, rather than using a convertor, the other way would have been for a previous owner to swap the Jap OEM "180" marked clock face for the "120" ones. This effectively makes the speedo read in MPH, and not KM/H. If so, you simply need to remove the 120 face and reinsate the OEM Jap 180 one again, for it to read in KM/H again... |
I have the 180 km/h face. The sticker is on the glass.
Like that: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/7882/licznikt.jpg The car still isn't driveable so I cannot check it with GPS. |
Bugger on both counts.
