Hi, and a Merry Christmas to all Scooby owners :-)
This query is on a MY2000 Impreza Sport Wagon.
Sadly, the above links no longer work, and I've a little job on today, which is to
a) peel the sprouts, and
b) try and remove these switches and see if they've got bulbs in 'em as they don't light up at night. I've got so far, see pic, but don't want to break anything, and the ducting makes it difficult for access to the rears....does anyone know if I can remove just the buttons from the front, or is there anyone who has done the job.....on youtube there's a vid but the hazard switch is different, being in the middle of the vent panel, not like mine is.
Thanks in advance....any and all advice welcome!
p.s., I bought 2 wire-ended bulbs from Maplins which might be the right ones....looks like Maplins are running down their stocks of components, these bulbs included, so if they're the correct ones, I recommend anyone interested to check the stock in their local Maplins store and get a few in while stocks last. These are the ones I bought: there were only 2 left in store, so I nabbed them both. £1.49 each.
'12v 0.96watt wire-ended filament type' code WQ13P

btw, does the cup holder housing just pull out too? seems well and truly stuck....the cup holder itself came out ok.

Looks like that Maplin bulb I bought is way too big! see pic, Managed to prise out the HRW switch and remove it's guts to get at the bulbs, but they're really tiny! Anyone any idea of a source..or is it a new switch?.
bulbs measure 3mm diam, 7mm long (excluding leads)
Well, I've just had a look on the RS Components website, and I think the bulbs are a size T1 or T-1, RS part number 655-9198 or 360-7913 packs of 10 around a fiver. Will update this thread when I know more. In the meantime, anyone who knows how to remove the hazard switch of the type in my pic in post #31, I'd like to hear from!
Nick

Good luck.

Cheers! I've dug a bit further down the Maplin route as they're open Boxing Day (who'd be a shop worker) and they do a bulb, stock # BT43W that sounds promising...watch this space!

It's the moicro bulb you want, wire ended.
I know they used to sell them, as I've had a couple.

nicam49 25 December 2017 10:04 PM

Hi Alcazar, thanks for responding, Kim Jong-un was no help at all!
Can you tell me how you managed to get the hazard switch out without breaking anything...there's no room to get a blade behind the switch due to the air duct above it...cheers!
btw, I've learned that 3mm diam bulbs are called T1 bulbs.
The number following the 'T', which means tubular, is in increments of 1/8th inches, which is 3mm.
so a T2 bulb would be 6mm diam...amazing!

alcazar 26 December 2017 01:01 PM

I didn't know that either, but T1 rings a bell.

I had the cubby off the top of the dash in order to fit Defi gauges. With that off, the switch is accessible and a scredriver from the rear releases the tangs.

nicam49 26 December 2017 01:27 PM

thanks for that! With your help I managed to get it out...I'm now looking back thro' your posts 'cos I'm sure you posted pics of your dash in bits and a closeup of the hazard switch...trying to get at the bulb now.

nicam49 03 January 2018 03:11 PM

Hi alcazar! it was actually LSherratt who posted up pics of the switches! Between the 2 of you, your posts really helped me resolve the issue. Couldn't have succeeded without your help!...Thanks for responding on Boxing Day......Cheers and Happy New Year!

i don't believe it does, looking at mine, it looks like the direction arrows and so on are painted or printed on, but looking at the buttons that do, or should hehe light up, they are a different shade of white ish, where they are designed to let the light from the bulb through to illuminate the logo of what that switch does, it probably doesn't also as in theory your mirrors are meant to be set up before you drive off, so no need to be illuminated as you shouldn't need to locate that while driving, where as the switches with a function need to be located at night when driving, ie hazard lights or fog lights etc.

In regards to the bulbs for the switches, ive had my dash open today and the bulb looks like it is wrapped around and through the blue rubber holder, so even if we can locate some bulbs minus holder it will just take a bit of threading and hopefully were all illuminated again, ive swapped the bulb over in my demist button, so i don't have the orange light any more when its on but it is illuminated at night so i can find the button hehe

Cheers..I'll have a look later...will let you know

alcazar 06 January 2018 11:21 AM

Mine doesn't.

iain710 06 January 2018 01:32 PM

Well...I've done the HRW and the hazard switches....somehow I managed to bend the pin in the hazard so it wouldn't stay on.....the good news is a paper clip rectified the problem and all is good....2 more to go. 😬😬

MoggyNinja 09 January 2018 09:31 AM

So these are the correct bulbs, just done my rear window first, was a bit fiddly winding the wire round but it worked, just doing the hazard switch now
