Are they a descent car?
Whats the specs / Costs of them I think there a rather ugly car |
I thought they were ugly too till I saw the one at Crail, looked really nice with only a few cosmetic mods. Didn't beat my VTS by as much as I thought it would though?? The standard scoobies beat my by much more and most Integra drivers I speak to would swear blind it can keep up with a scooby! Dreamers :rolleyes:

Yes it's a 'decent' car but that's a bit of an understatement. Here's some info:
Horse power/litre: 108.5 Bhp/tonne : 173 Power bhp : 187 0-60mph : 7.1 0-100 mph : 17.9 Max speed mph : 143 So as you can see it's a 'pretty decent car'. Best thing about it is the VTEC kick and once you get used to abusing this and allowing yourself to remember that the rev-limiter in this case is only a 'change up' reminder ( ;) ) then you're there! They are pretty quick and handle as well- the y have a LSD as standard so can put the power down- had a race in my Standard TT 225 and there was very little in it (the TT is now 267 ; )
but yeah pig ugly but go like fugg- the handling is supposedly amazing- possibly the best front wheel driver ever!! |
ITR's are awesome little things, weigh naff all and engine sound with the V Tec is awesome :D
I sold mine as I didn't use it anymore but when it was on track it screamed past most things, 2nd time I went to Dono in it on Road Legal slicks is glided past EVO6's who were all running mods and slicks. On the straights there were quicker but on the corners I was alot faster, an ITR in the right hands should leave a scooby standing on track as mine did at the Nurburgring. I do miss it as it was the cheapest to run car ive owned and there were no worries about someone stealing it or scratching it. Harj.. |

As for keeping up with a UK Scoob, having had a MY99 for 2 years I think I can comment accurately. Once moving, say 40-50 mph and upwards, nothing in it, but you have to rev the nuts off them. Stats say quicker 60 to 100 through the gears than a MY01/02 standard uk car. Handling wise, cross county in the dry the 'Teg is a little quicker than the scoob, in the wet the scoob will be a lot quicker off the mark, but no faster around the bends. This is fact, not fiction. 'Teg was more fun if you were in the mood, but Scoob had a greater sense of occasion. Very different machines, nothing really in it a to b in the real world. On track, with standard cars in the dry, the teg would probably post the slightly faster lap time. Teg much much cheaper to run. Insurance about the same, but up to 50% better fuel consumption, much cheaper and less frequent services. Teg has awesome (read NSX) brakes as standard, way better that standard UK Scoob (dunno about MY01/02 brakes though). D |
I can't praise 'em high enough, my old man bought a brand new one in 2001. Performance wise not a lot in it once your rolling compared to my Std. MY01 and I recon would beat it after about 60/70 MPH as the power to weight ratio is superior. Only problem is tyre wear - fronts lasted 4000 miles when driven hard (he's a pensioner as well!).
It's a stripped out lightened car - even the windscreen is specialy thinned to reduce weight, so not much sound insulation either. Very tight to drive with superb handling and steering response, but v.firm ride. Engine is superb, you can pull away in fourth gear and it doesn't judder/kick and revs up to 9k, v.smooth. The engine has hand finished ports and low friction pistons etc etc and is superb peice of engineering - to get so much power out of a 1.8 without using forced induction and concidering it comes with a 3yr warranty on it, Honda are clearly confident of the reliability as well! Only downside is stlying, and thats personal anyway... |
All to often people compare a car to a modded car.
Standard Scoob against std Integra Type R, absolutly nothing in it. At a drag strip a Scoob has a massive advantage - 4X4 Launching a VTEC is an art form, and extremely difficult to do, but when done right will be as quick. Put it this way i have a 1.6 Civic Type R 0-60 5.7 which is quicker than a std Scoob to 60, but i really struggle to match it, in a nutshell its far easier to acheive quick launches in a Scoob, than any FWD car. I regulary pass Scoobs, and Evo's on track, and im no Shumaker :D As for it being Ugly, man you have not seen the car right. |

From what I read the yanks have bolt on supercharger/turbo kits.
Not driven one but have been told the 'teg can be a bit tiresome to drive as you have to rev it hard for the power.. A few people have mentioned that to me. I do kinda like the look of them though... Anyone got any torque figures ? |
Yes, you have to rev the balls of them for max attack progress, but its not hard work.
Fantastic driveline, zero inertia, brilliant close ratio box and shift quality. Torque about 135 lbs/ft @6000 rpm if I recall correctly. Sounds peaky, but its a very flat torque curve and has something like no less than 120 lbs/ft from 2,500 rpm to 7000 rpm, so in reality not peaky at all, despite what the largely misinformed motoring press may write. Might be a bit off, but not that far D |
only 135 ? I'm suprised its so low. Was expecting over 150lb/ft. Must have a short stroke...

I had one, it rocked. Not as quick as scoob to 60, but faster for sure 60 - 100, I passed my mates wrx on the way to lemans at about 100, he could do nothing.

surprised about the 60-100mph times, the MY01 has a power to weight ratio of 159BHP/ton versus the Teg's 168BHP/ton which would imply that once the initial traction problems are past, it should be quicker than a Scoob....

EVO quote 6.2 0-60 and 16.7 0-100!!!!!! Reference my car is better than yours, who gives a ****!!!!!! I could have bought a 911 or EVO 6, both substantially faster than a ITR, but the ITR gives me the biggest grin and is good for 150mph.......... ;0)))))) matt |

That looks like Nigel Rouse's Honda-R members car, with Ricardos Jordan next to it, i guess from the Swindon or Bolney meet.
Nigels car does the 1/4 in 13.7 Very nice indeedy. Im not a great fan of Turbo or Supercharger, but each to their own, and no denying Nigel's is a fantastic motor. |
Amazing.
What is loses in off the line performance it gains in driver satisfaction and fun. I test drove various Scoobys before buying the teg but there were too many of them and too much to be done to them (brakes etc). As standard the teg is the sharper drivers tool with breath taking adjustability and poise and THAT engine noise. The ride is harsh but i dont really care about that as it is so well damped on a proper road and at speed. My car has a few mods done now like a full HKS exhaust systeem comprising of the super header and hiper muffler. It is also currently being racing gas flowed, having a Spoon head gasket fitted, having the fly wheel lightened and the clutch uprateed and then them both balanced. This should be fun... Dont get me wrong, I love scoobies but in my opinion there are far too many of them and they are in danger (some already) of becoming very max power........ |

Be honest - real world, on a twisty A/B road, with a car towing a caravan @ 50 mph ahead of you, which car would you feel more confident in pulling out and overtaking? I tried & failed miserably to follow a Lancia Integrale turbo 16v from Fort William to Skye a couple of years back in my Integra. Wish I'd had my (bog standard) Impreza then? That said, in either car it's a fantastic drive, and your girl/ boy(?)friend would love the scenery! |

The only reason you would have a problem behind a caravan would be if you were determined not to change out of 5th.. I love to drop 2 gears and go screaming past peoples window; really gets your point across!
