Elbow grease.

always remove my wheels when cleaning, brush on wonder wheels and wash off, mine come up like new, would also love to know how to keep them clean as well, though finding that not using brakes to save on dust is not a good idea!!

tip : the inside of the wheel is not gold !!??

A coat of wax or halfords Alloy wheel protector makes taking the brake dust off much easier next time round, haven't got round to it myself yet.

Andy's tip works very well. Waxing the wheels will help to keep them clean. As long as you do them on a regular basis (once a week) it should be possible to clean the wheels with just soap and water. If you don't want to goto the hassle of waxing your wheels, then Autoglym's 'Extra Gloss Protection' (the bottle with the gold label) also works very well as a barrier.
